{"id":253382,"date":"2025-11-09T16:47:08","date_gmt":"2025-11-09T16:47:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/253382\/"},"modified":"2025-11-09T16:47:08","modified_gmt":"2025-11-09T16:47:08","slug":"former-newcastle-united-striker-papiss-cisse-leaves-fans-in-awe-during-latest-sunday-league-display","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/253382\/","title":{"rendered":"Former Newcastle United striker Papiss Cisse leaves fans in awe during latest Sunday League display"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Former Newcastle United favourite Papiss Cisse is now playing Sunday League football and enjoyed an eventful outing this weekend.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s difficult to imagine making the kind of impact <a href=\"https:\/\/www.geordiebootboys.com\/tag\/papiss-cisse\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Papiss Cisse<\/a> made upon joining <a href=\"https:\/\/www.geordiebootboys.com\/club\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Newcastle United<\/a> in 2012.<\/p>\n<p>The Senegalese forward had excelled at Freiburg before joining the Magpies in the January transfer window.<\/p>\n<p>The impact was incredible: Cisse scored 13 goals in 14 games after arriving at St James\u2019 Park, with a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.geordiebootboys.com\/opinion\/8-papiss-cisse-scores-newcastles-goal-of-the-decade-against-chelsea\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">stunning goal against Chelsea a particular highlight<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Cisse went through ups and downs with his goalscoring form after that remarkable impact, before leaving Newcastle in 2016.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"708\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/GettyImages-137252920-1024x708.jpg\" alt=\"Newcastle United Signs Papiss Demba Cisse\" class=\"wp-image-113464\" \/>Photo by Ian Horrocks\/Newcastle United via Getty ImagesPapiss Cisse\u2019s eventful Sunday League appearance<\/p>\n<p>Cisse turned out for Shandong Luneng, Alanyaspor, Fenerbahce, Caykur Rizespor, Amiens and Palm City before returning to English football.<\/p>\n<p>The 40-year-old has dipped his toe into the waters of Sunday League football, representing Wythenshawe AFC in their veteran side.<\/p>\n<p>Playing in the Cheshire Vets League Premier Division, Cisse is seemingly enjoying himself.<\/p>\n<p>In a clip posted by the Daily Mail\u2019s Nathan Salt, Cisse had a penalty saved and saw his rebound effort go out for a corner against South Liverpool.<\/p>\n<p>Cisse went straight over to take that corner kick and knocked the ball straight out of play before jogging away, chuckling to himself.<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">In fairness to Papiss Cisse mind, he\u2019s just claimed a second half double hat-trick with this beauty \u2026 11-0 currently to Wythenshawe Vets v Liverpool South <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/GqxxHkFtTs\" rel=\"nofollow\">pic.twitter.com\/GqxxHkFtTs<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 James Ducker (@TelegraphDucker) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TelegraphDucker\/status\/1987501522683654301?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">November 9, 2025<\/a> <\/p>\n<p>View Tweet<\/p>\n<p>The Telegraph\u2019s James Ducker later added that Cisse went on to rack up six goals in an eventful afternoon for the striker.<\/p>\n<p>Ducker posted a clip of Cisse scoring a sumptuous chip, leaving fans and staff in awe of the technique on show.<\/p>\n<p>This truly was a case of the good, the bad and the ugly as Cisse\u2019s brilliance was accompanied by some rather comical moments.<\/p>\n<p>Cisse\u2019s Newcastle days may be long gone, but he clearly still has some talent in his locker.<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Just seen Papiss Cisse miss a penalty in Sunday League, hit the post, then take a corner that goes straight out.<\/p>\n<p>Sensational work \ud83e\udd23\ud83e\udd23\ud83e\udd23 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/0Cbn45YLsf\" rel=\"nofollow\">pic.twitter.com\/0Cbn45YLsf<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Nathan Salt (@NathSalt1) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/NathSalt1\/status\/1987487233079959613?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">November 9, 2025<\/a> <\/p>\n<p>View Tweet<\/p>\n<p> Papiss Cisse\u2019s love for Newcastle United<\/p>\n<p>Cisse is certainly best remembered for his time at Newcastle, having played for the Magpies more than any other club in his career.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.geordiebootboys.com\/news\/newcastle-was-different-papiss-cisses-special-connection-with-the-club\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Cisse has previously said that he still loves Newcastle<\/a> and considers the Magpies to be his team, even years after leaving.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am a Newcastle fan now. It\u2019s my team. I still love Newcastle United,\u201d said Cisse in 2022.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNewcastle is part of me because I had great moments and I enjoyed the time I spent there, and I respect this club and the Geordies as well. It will always be the team that I have in my heart.
