\n He\u2019s been described as boxing<\/a>\u2019s next superstar: A national champion at the amateur level, his record since turning professional in 2016 reads like an unblemished tour de force.\n <\/p>\n

\n Undefeated in 36 fights with 35 wins \u2013 31 by way of knockout \u2013 he\u2019s a world champion with eyes on bigger opponents and prizes.\n <\/p>\n

\n American Jaron Ennis is already making waves in his sport and his message is clear: The sky is the limit and there\u2019s no stopping him.\n <\/p>\n

\n \u201cI feel like I can achieve whatever I want to achieve,\u201d he tells CNN Sports<\/a>, exuding confidence and a laser-like focus. \u201cI want to be a mega superstar \u2026 I want the world to see my skills, my ability, my talent (and to be) the best in the world.\n <\/p>\n

\n \u201cI want to go down as a historic, undefeated champion \u2013 undefeated legend.\u201d\n <\/p>\n

\n The building blocks of the 28-year-old\u2019s meteoric rise up the ranks have been forged on the canvases and ropes of the family-run business in Philadelphia.\n <\/p>\n

\n At the top of the pyramid, Derek \u201cBozy\u201d Ennis, Jaron\u2019s father and trainer.\n <\/p>\n

\n A former fighter himself, his \u201cBozy\u2019s Dungeon\u201d gym became a second childhood home for Jaron.\n <\/p>\n

\n \u201cMy Dad had me in the gym (as a baby) in a jumper\u2026 I couldn\u2019t even walk!\u201d he cheerily says. The younger Ennis recalls witnessing from an early age the discipline and determination required to compete at the highest level.\n <\/p>\n

\n Another integral figure also looms large in the family setup: the quiet, humbling voice of assurance, his mother, Sharon Ennis.\n <\/p>\n

\n The fuel behind his resilience, the practical supporter of his dreams, and the instigator of Jaron\u2019s nickname, \u201cBoots.\u201d\n <\/p>\n

\n \u201cMy mom originally named me \u2018Boops,\u2019\u201d he explains.\n <\/p>\n

\n \u201cWhen I was in the gym, everybody thought my dad was saying \u2018Boots\u2019 like the shoes, so we just kept in there and stuck, stuck with it.\u201d\n <\/p>\n

\n A lot of support also comes from brothers Derek \u201cPooh\u201d and Farah, both professional fighters who, while never having competed for world titles, set the benchmark for their aspiring younger sibling.\n <\/p>\n

\n \u201cThey showed me the way. They showed me what to do and what not to do, and now I\u2019m taking it to the next level \u2026 That\u2019s why I\u2019m here for it.\u201d\n <\/p>\n

\n And while the family unit has been integral to shaping the Jaron \u201cBoots\u201d Ennis of today, so too has been the trust of a trailblazing cutwoman \u2013 Trish Kuller.\n <\/p>\n

\n Formerly working in the emergency room at Philly\u2019s Nazareth Hospital, Kuller\u2019s journey into boxing coincided with that of her son, Quadir Albright, who took up the sport in 2016.\n <\/p>\n

\n Her first bout in June 2021 \u2013 working her son\u2019s corner in his pro debut \u2013 was the beginning of something bigger.\n <\/p>\n

\n The single mother, who took up the role<\/a> to help her son financially, has become the go-to for several elite fighters, including Ennis.\n <\/p>\n

\n Ennis used to hire a cutman from California to work his corner but decided to give her a shot three years ago.\n <\/p>\n

\n \u201cI just want to be different,\u201d he says proudly. \u201cAt first, it was kind of different because they\u2019ve never really seen a female in the corner, but she never got negative feedback.\n <\/p>\n

\n \u201cI\u2019m starting to see more females being in guys\u2019 corners as cutwomen or wrapping the guys\u2019 hands.\n <\/p>\n

\n \u201cI think she\u2019s very inspirational to other females just trying to get into the boxing game \u2026 It\u2019s great for her. She\u2019s getting recognized as a top cutwoman and people are showing love to her.\u201d\n <\/p>\n

Inspired by Mayweather and Tyson<\/p>\n

\n Kuller witnessed Ennis\u2019 dazzling debut in the 154-pound, super welterweight division earlier this month.\n <\/p>\n

\n Despite the step up in weight, boxing\u2019s brightest young star continued where he left off in the welterweight division.\n <\/p>\n

\n Ennis needed less than two minutes to secure a first-round stoppage against challenger Uisma Lima in Philly\u2019s Wells Fargo Center to claim the WBA interim super-welterweight title.\n <\/p>\n

\n \u201cI can box. I can bang if I have to. I got defense. I could do it all!\u201d he professes to CNN Sports.\n <\/p>\n

\n \u201cI\u2019m like a variety pack bag of chips. The box that you get out of the market. Whatever kind of flavor you want, I can give it to you!\u201d\n <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\n The combination of intelligence, agility and strength is a potent one, drawing on the qualities of two of his fighting inspirations \u2013 Floyd Mayweather and Mike Tyson.\n <\/p>\n

\n \u201cWhen Floyd went from \u2018Pretty Boy\u2019 to \u2018Money Mayweather,\u2019 he went from being a seek-and-destroyer guy to using his brain and being smarter,\u201d Ennis says. \u201cHe picked his opponents apart. He\u2019s got a great ring IQ and he always found a way to make it easy as possible.\n <\/p>\n

\n \u201cMike Tyson will get you out of there in 30 seconds! Who doesn\u2019t love a knockout, a quick knockout?\u201d\n <\/p>\n

\n The debate over whether Ennis can become the pound-for-pound best in the sport has begun and will only grow as his profile continues to grow in the sport.\n <\/p>\n

\"Terence<\/p>\n

\n American Terence Crawford<\/a> \u2013 10 years Ennis\u2019 senior and with whom comparisons have been drawn \u2013 is arguably at the top of that tree following his recent victory<\/a> against Canelo \u00c1lvarez.\n <\/p>\n

\n It was a victory that saw him become the undisputed super middleweight champion and the first male boxer in history to unify three divisions.\n <\/p>\n

\n Ennis, though, is now seeking a statement win to underline his credentials and continue his upward trajectory.\n <\/p>\n

\n As it stands, the boxing card for 2026 is lacking a superfight showdown of real gusto to catch the eyes of fans and casuals.\n <\/p>\n

\n That, though, could be about to change.\n <\/p>\n

\n Ennis\u2019 super welterweight victory has thrown the door open to a possible long-awaited clash with WBC interim champion Vergil Ortiz Jr.\n <\/p>\n

\n Ortiz will take to the ring to defend his title against Erickson Lubin on November 8, and barring a surprise defeat, victory for the American would set the wheels in motion for a marquee encounter against Ennis.\n <\/p>\n

\n Already dubbed by Ennis\u2019 promoter Eddie Hearn as \u201cone of the best fights to be made in American boxing,\u201d it\u2019s an enticing prospect with two undefeated fighters, contrasting fighting styles and with a potential win being the catalyst for either of them to catapult to global stardom.\n <\/p>\n

\n While his feats may have already tempted some to call him \u201cCaptain America,\u201d Ennis knows that keeping his boots on the ground will be the ultimate fuel for future success.\n <\/p>\n

\n \u201cAs long as you\u2019re being yourself, being humble and not getting too big-headed, your mind, your body and soul is going to be on the right path.\n <\/p>\n
