M\u00e5neskin<\/a>\u2018s Thomas Raggi has announced plans to release a guest heavy debut album featuring Alex Kapranos<\/a>, Red Hot Chili Peppers<\/a> drummer Chad Smith and more.<\/p>\n

Entitled \u2018Masquerade\u2019, the record was produced by and also features Tom Morello<\/a>\u00a0along with Nic Cester<\/a>, Kasabian<\/a>\u2018s Serge Pizzorno<\/a>, former Guns N\u2019 Roses<\/a> member Matt Sorum, The Struts<\/a> frontman Luke Spiller and UPSAHL<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The eight track LP will be released on December 5 and can be pre-ordered here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cSeeing so many musical icons come together (along with the ones I had the pleasure of meeting while writing the album) reminded me that music knows no boundaries; that you have to follow your instinct and inspiration, ignore imposed rules, and simply do what you feel,\u201d Raggi said of the record.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe M\u00e5neskin story teaches me that, and now I had the ultimate confirmation. I feel as if those who made music history are placing a hand on my shoulder, saying: \u2018You\u2019re on the right path.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Morello added: \u201cThomas and I connected over our shared Italian roots and our passion for rock music. It was really exciting to see such a young, skilled guitarist so passionate about the music.<\/p>\n

\u201cFrom that very first meeting, we made plans to collaborate and explore ideas together. For me, it\u2019s another chance to champion rock and roll and show that it still matters. I see this project as part of keeping that tradition alive.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to a press release, the lead track \u2018Getcha!\u2019 features Chad Smith on drums, with lyrics by Nic Cester.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis was a fun collaboration and I enjoyed the challenge of singing outside of my normal comfort zone. There were lots of interesting people involved in this song so I was happy to be involved,\u201d Cester said of the track.<\/p>\n

On \u2018Cat Got Your Tongue\u2019, Sergio Pizzorno contributed his lyrics to Raggi\u2019s guitar-driven songwriting, while Maxim co-wrote \u2018Fallaway\u2019 and UPSAHL contributed to the writing of
\u2018Lucy\u2019.<\/p>\n

UPSAHL said of the latter: \u201cBeing part of this song was such a dream. The day we wrote it, the song just fell out of us. I\u2019m such a fan of Thomas, his vision, and everyone on this record. I\u2019m so stoked it\u2019s finally out in the world.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hama Okamoto, who also featured on the track, added: \u201cI\u2019m thrilled to be participating in this project as a Japanese player. Playing the rhythm section with my favourite artist Chad Smith was absolutely amazing and exciting. Thomas, let\u2019s meet on stage next time!\u201d<\/p>\n

Elsewhere Alex Kapranos features on a cover of Dead Or Alive<\/a>\u2018s \u2018You Spin Me Round (Like A Record)\u2019.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was really chuffed when Thomas and Tom asked me to join them on this recording of \u2018You Spin Me Round,\u201d the Franz Ferdinand<\/a> frontman explained. \u201cI remember when I was a kid, hearing that song for the first time and absolutely adoring it. I\u2019ve loved that song my entire life and have sung it at karaoke on several occasions.\u201d<\/p>\n

He continued: \u201cWhen they sent me the initial recording they had made, I loved it! Particularly the section with the guitar solo in the middle. I thought, \u2018This is what a cover should be like.\u2019 It should capture the energy of the song but also bring something different, a bit of personality and this definitely has that. I hope people enjoy listening to it as much as we enjoyed recording it.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

M\u00e5neskin previously teamed up with Morello on their 2023 single \u2018GOSSIP\u2019<\/a>. Last year Raggi also teamed up with the\u00a0Rage Against The Machine<\/a> guitarist to perform the single and a cover of MC5<\/a>\u2018s \u00a0\u2018Kick Out The Jams\u2019 at a show at the Electric Ballroom in Camden Town<\/a>.<\/p>\n
