A player linked with a move to Manchester United is a huge fan of Casemiro, which is ironic considering that, after recent transfer rumours, he could very well replace the Brazilian at Old Trafford.<\/p>\n

Casemiro<\/a> is an ageing man at Manchester United<\/a>, but judging by his recent performances, you wouldn\u2019t think it.<\/p>\n

The Brazilian midfielder has been in inspired form under Ruben Amorim, with Casemiro producing vital performances<\/a> as the Red Devils\u2019 form has taken an upturn.<\/p>\n

But despite new talks of a Casemiro contract<\/a>, it\u2019s no secret Manchester United want to acquire a six in the transfer market.<\/p>\n

Joao Gomes linked to Manchester United as Casemiro alternative<\/p>\n

The latest rumour has been that Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Joao Gomes has attracted Manchester United\u2019s interest<\/a> ahead of the January transfer window.<\/p>\n

Gomes signed for the Molineux outfit in 2023, finalising a \u00a315m<\/a> move from Flamengo, and has been one of their standout players since joining. <\/p>\n

Wolves have been struggling at the bottom of the Premier League<\/a> this season, and therefore, reports state that the Brazilian midfielder is looking for a way out.<\/p>\n

Gomes does fit the brief that Amorim is looking for, an astute defensive midfielder who can not just break up play, but drive forward and help out in the attack.<\/p>\n

At just 24, Gomes could definitely be an option for a longer-term Casemiro replacement, and would also help if he did arrive in January with midfield rotation, particularly with Manuel Ugarte struggling<\/a> when called upon.<\/p>\n

What does help is that Gomes is quite a similar player to Casemiro, and actually revealed his admiration for the five-time Champions League winner in September 2025.<\/p>\n

Gomes was asked to build his dream five-a-side team made up of Brazilian players, and in midfield, he opted for the tenacious Manchester United man, lauding him as \u2018unbelievable\u2019 in the process.<\/p>\n
