Tiger Woods shocked his former caddie after their first day together with an act he did after every round.<\/p>\n

The 15-time major winner worked with Steve Williams<\/a> for 12 years between 1999 and 2011.<\/p>\n

During that time, Woods<\/a> won all but two of his major championships as he became the dominant force in golf.<\/p>\n

Williams has now revealed he was taken aback<\/a> by Woods’ humble act after each round.<\/p>\n

The golf legend would thank his caddie at the end of play regardless of how it had gone.<\/p>\n

Speaking to the Tee It Up Golf podcast, Williams explained: “The thing that stood out for me more than anything when I first went to caddie for Tiger, after every single round, good or bad, indifferent, whatever, \u2018Thanks for your help today, Steve\u2019.”<\/p>\n

He continued: “A lot of times when you are carrying for guys, and things don\u2019t go well, and you have a bad day, they\u2019d rather not see you. They don\u2019t want to talk to you. They don\u2019t want to see you.<\/p>\n

“But he, it was remarkable, every day he thanked me for the job. And as a young guy under the pressure that he was, I couldn\u2019t believe it.”<\/p>\n

Williams’ career has also seen him caddie for the likes of Greg Norman and Jason Day.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the New Zealander was on the bag for Adam Scott when he won the Masters in 2013.<\/p>\n

As for what separated Woods from the rest of the players on the PGA Tour<\/a>, Williams admitted his desire to win was ‘incredible’.<\/p>\n

The 61-year-old revealed: “When you get somebody that\u2019s at the top of the game, whether it be Rory [McIlroy], whether it be Scottie Scheffler now, it just comes down to the desire of wanting to win, and that\u2019s where Tiger was just incredible.<\/p>\n

“His desire to win was beyond belief to be honest. And his only measure of a successful week was when he won a golf tournament.<\/p>\n

“If he didn\u2019t win the tournament, it wasn\u2019t a successful week. So to work for someone under that kind of pressure was very intense.”<\/p>\n

Woods and Williams became close friends away from the course alongside their working relationship.<\/p>\n

The former even attended his caddie’s wedding in 2005 as he tied the knot in his native New Zealand.<\/p>\n

Williams also once threw a fan’s camera into a pond after he clicked it for a picture during Woods’ backswing.<\/p>\n

However, the pair would abruptly stop working together in 2011 as Woods fired Williams as his caddie.<\/p>\n

He would go on to take over on Scott’s bag for the US Open and Open Championship that same year.<\/p>\n
