Jon Watts<\/a> thinks it\u2019s going to be a \u201cgenuinely weird\u201d experience watching Spider-Man: Brand New Day<\/a> for the first time.<\/p>\n

Marvel Studios<\/a> and Sony Pictures<\/a>\u2019 Spider-Man: Brand New Day, also known as Spider-Man 4<\/a>, is now in production. Directed by Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings\u2019 Destin Daniel Cretton<\/a>, the film will once again see Tom Holland reprise his MCU<\/a> role as Peter Parker\/Spider-Man<\/a>. The movie has been given a July 2026 release date.<\/p>\n

Prior to Brand New Day, Holland led 2017\u2019s Spider-Man: Homecoming, 2019\u2019s Spider-Man: Far From Home, and 2021\u2019s Spider-Man: No Way Home, all of which were directed by Watts. Since then, Watts directed 2024\u2019s Wolfs with George Clooney and Brad Pitt, while he also produced and worked on the story for 2025\u2019s Final Destination Bloodlines.<\/p>\n

What did Jon Watts say about Spider-Man: Brand New Day?<\/p>\n

Speaking with Variety<\/a>, Watts was asked if he\u2019s been able to talk to Cretton about Brand New Day.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe talked a little bit at the very, very beginning, but I\u2019m very close to that franchise, so I just had to step back and let everyone do their job,\u201d Watts answered. \u201cIt\u2019s going to be genuinely weird for me going to see that movie for the first time. It\u2019s going to be a really interesting feeling. It\u2019s a passing of the torch, and I\u2019m curious to see where it goes.\u201d<\/p>\n

Plot details for Spider-Man 4 remain under wraps at this time. In addition to Holland, the cast of the Marvel<\/a> movie includes Zendaya as Michelle \u201cMJ\u201d Jones-Watson, Jacob Batalon as Ned Leeds, Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle\/Punisher, Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner\/Hulk, Michael Mando as Mac Gargan\/Scorpion, and Marvin Jones III as Lonnie Lincoln\/Tombstone. Additionally, Stranger Things\u2019 Sadie Sink, The Bear\u2019s Liza Col\u00f3n-Zayas, and Severance\u2019s Trammel Tillman have all been cast in undisclosed roles.<\/p>\n
