A hard-hitting former rival of Canelo Alvarez<\/a> has put himself forward for a future showdown with Jake Paul<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u2018The Problem Child\u2019 remains on the hunt for a brand new opponent after his controversial exhibition bout with three-weight world champion Gervonta Davis was cancelled.<\/p>\n

Paul was set to face \u2018Tank\u2019 over ten rounds at the Kaseya Center in Miami this weekend, but the fight was scrapped due to Davis being at the centre of a domestic violence allegation.<\/a><\/p>\n

Two-time unified world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has expressed an interest in stepping in to replace Davis<\/a>, although it remains unlikely that \u2018AJ\u2019 will be Paul\u2019s opponent of choice.<\/p>\n

One man that could actually be in line to face Paul when he returns to the ring this December is Texas-native James Kirkland, who took on Mexican superstar Canelo back in May 2015.<\/p>\n

While Kirkland may have come up short in the fight, Canelo has previously credited him as being the hardest puncher he has ever faced, and speaking on social media recently,<\/a> the American put his name forward to be Paul\u2019s next opponent as he claims he is \u2018already available\u2019.<\/p>\n

\u201cJake Paul. They say you looking like you need a fight and you trying to get one before December. Guess what? I\u2019m already available. I\u2019ve been waiting on you. Come on down here man let\u2019s get on with it. You\u2019ve been talking. I\u2019ve definitely been talking. So let\u2019s make magic, for December.\u201d<\/p>\n
