\n MR Golf Lab allows people to try the sport – even when it’s raining outside – using a state-of-the art simulator and big screen, while being assisted by a professional coach.\n<\/p>\n
\n It’s the brainchild of Mark Rankin, a Professional Golfers Association (PGA) member who has been working at Weymouth Golf Club for the past 13 years.\n<\/p>\n
\n The Lab, at Unit 17 Jubilee Close, offers services including personalised coaching, custom fittings, and performance services using tour-level technology.\n<\/p>\n

\n Mr Rankin said: \u201cI recently made the decision to coach full time and open up my own coaching facility and experience to help golfers of all ages and abilities as well as custom fittings and equipment repairs.\n<\/p>\n
\n \u201cI also do a lot of online coaching and so the transition was easy and plus it\u2019s something big for Weymouth being the first indoor golf facility in the town.\u201d\n<\/p>\n
\n Using the GCQuad, Capto and Sportsbox AI, golfers can track their statistics, their club swing and improve their performance with high tech information and data as well as expert coaching.\n<\/p>\n
\n Mr Rankin said: \u201cYou can choose the clubs and get yardages, it\u2019s really handy and you can even set up in any condition you want.\n<\/p>\n
\n \u201cThe simulation hire has proved popular as apart from the undercover range at the Wessex course there is no other covered option.\n<\/p>\n
\n \u201cGolfers love it and have been so excited, and it\u2019s been a hit with non-golfers renting it out for events.\u201d\n<\/p>\n

\n With Wessex, Weymouth Golf Club and Came Down Golf Club all nearby and the addition of MR Golf Lab and the Globalls mini-golf course opening before Christmas, Mr Rankin says there is so much on offer in the town for all abilities.\n<\/p>\n
\n He said: \u201cIt\u2019s getting to be a bit of a golfing hub. The mini-golf will be fantastic and there is a buzz in the town. When all the courses are busy this really proves to be a relaxed alternative.\u201d\n<\/p>\n
\n Echo reporter Alfie Lumb gave the course a try and received a staggering amount of tips early doors, but could not hit a hole-in-one, but did drive the ball 48 yards with his best effort on the visit.\n<\/p>\n
