\n Lloyd & Whyte Community Broking, which is based in Taunton, has given a cheque for \u00a32,500 to St Margaret\u2019s Hospice Care.\n<\/p>\n
\n The cheque was presented to the charity by Paul Short, the managing director of the business, which is part of the Benefact Group.\n<\/p>\n
\n He was joined by Sir Stephen Lamport, the director at Ecclesiastical Insurance, who was representing the Benefact Group.\n<\/p>\n
\n The money was raised during the company’s annual Founders Day, which is held every June in honour of the company’s founder, Mervyn Pyke.\n<\/p>\n
\n At the event, employees took part in a variety of activities, including games and craft sales, bake sales and sponsored challenges, to raise money for charity.\n<\/p>\n
\n The Benefact Group then matched the money raised.\n<\/p>\n
\n The company has also chosen St Margaret\u2019s Hospice as its corporate charity in Taunton.\n<\/p>\n
\n Mr Short said: “St Margaret\u2019s Hospice holds a special place in the hearts of many of our team members, and we\u2019re proud to play a small part in helping them continue their essential work for families across Somerset.\n<\/p>\n
\n “By doing business with us, clients not only receive expert advice and solutions, but also contribute to the Benefact Group\u2019s wider Movement for Good and its charitable giving programmes.”\n<\/p>\n
\n St Margaret’s Hospice supports thousands of people every year who are facing life-limiting illnesses.\n<\/p>\n
\n The charity costs \u00a315m a year to run, but rising costs and growing demand are putting pressure on the service.\n<\/p>\n
\n Sir Stephen said: “The Benefact Group is proud to stand alongside Lloyd & Whyte in supporting St Margaret\u2019s Hospice.\n<\/p>\n
\n “With philanthropy at our foundation, we\u2019re building something bigger – helping to better lives.\n<\/p>\n
\n “Organisations like this, rooted in their local communities, make our mission of doing good while doing business truly meaningful.”\n<\/p>\n
\n The cheque was presented to hospice representatives David Slack, the director of finance and company secretary, and Clare Barton, the clinical director.\n<\/p>\n
\n Lloyd & Whyte was founded in Taunton in 1946 and has grown from a community-based broker into a national provider of specialist insurance services.\n<\/p>\n
\n It supports clients across commercial, healthcare, charity and professional sectors.\n<\/p>\n
