Three years have gone by since we\u00a0first heard<\/a>\u00a0about the comedic sci-fi virus thriller\u00a0Cold Storage, which went into production two years ago. Earlier this year, we learned that Samuel Goldwyn Films has acquired the North American distribution rights and are planning to give the film a nationwide theatrical release\u2026 but that\u2019s not expected to happen until sometime in\u00a02026.\u00a0While we wait for a specific release date to be announced, a teaser trailer<\/a> dropped online a few months ago, and now a full trailer has been unveiled. Doctor Who\u00a0and\u00a0Westworld\u00a0director Jonny Campbell took the helm of\u00a0Cold Storage, working\u00a0from a screenplay by\u00a0David Koepp<\/a>. Koepp has been one of the biggest screenwriters in Hollywood for about thirty years at this point, having worked on such films as\u00a0Jurassic Park, Mission: Impossible, The Lost World: Jurassic Park, Panic Room, Spider-Man, War of the Worlds, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull,\u00a0The Mummy, and\u00a0Jurassic World Rebirth. Koepp wrote the script for\u00a0Cold Storage\u00a0based on his 2019 novel of the same name, which you can pick up at\u00a0THIS LINK<\/a>. The film tells the following story:\u00a0Several decades ago, a highly infectious, constantly mutating micro-organism \u2014 capable of extinction-level destruction \u2014 was contained in a military facility. In the present day, the military has sealed the facility\u2019s lowest sublevel selling the remaining space to a self-storage company. As temperatures rise underground, the micro-organism finds a way to escape \u2014 and if left to spread, it will soon uncontrollably multiply around the world. The fate of humanity now rests on a retired bioterror operative and two unlikely heroes employed in the facility, who are caught in a race against time to destroy the organism and save mankind.<\/p>\n

The cast includes Liam Neeson\u00a0(Taken), Joe Keery (Stranger Things), Georgina Campbell (Barbarian), Sosie Bacon (Smile), and Vanessa Redgrave (Mission: Impossible). Another version of the synopsis tells us that the story follows\u00a0Teacake (Keery) and Naomi (Campbell), two young employees of a self-storage company built on the site of an old US military base, who have their wildest night shift ever when a parasitic fungus escapes from the lowest sublevel of the base, where it was sealed by the government decades before. As the temperature rises underground, this highly contagious and rapidly mutating microorganism multiplies and unleashes its brain-controlling, body-bursting terrors on the facility\u2019s inhabitants \u2013 human and otherwise. With time running out, it\u2019s down to Teacake and Naomi, with the help of a grizzled retired bioterror operative (Neeson), to contain the merciless menace and prevent the explosive extinction of Mankind itself.<\/p>\n

Gavin Polone is producing\u00a0Cold Storage, with Studiocanal\u2019s Shana Eddy Grouf, Ron Halpern, and Aaron Ensweiler overseeing. Koepp has previously said that\u00a0Cold Storage\u00a0will have \u201ceverything I\u2019d want to see in a movie; it\u2019s scary, funny, exhilarating, surprising, and riotously entertaining. Gavin, Jonny and I have huge ambitions for this.\u201c The film has been given an R rating for violent content, gore, and language.<\/p>\n
