A major golf course upgrade could lead to deaths at a \u201cdangerous\u201d junction, according to a planning objection.<\/p>\n
The statement was filed by a resident living near the Castle Stuart golf course, in response to plans to create a \u201cworld class\u201d resort nearby.<\/p>\n

Plans submitted earlier this year could see nine holiday lodges built on the Cabot Highlands site, alongside a five-lodge development approved in February.<\/p>\n
However, the new objection argues that extra traffic created by the project would make an already-unsafe junction, between the A96 and B9039, even worse.<\/p>\n
The resident claimed an \u201cever-increasing volume of traffic\u201d was using the Newton of Petty junction, which is already \u201cin desperate need of upgrade\u201d before considering further developments along the road.<\/p>\n
Long tailbacks on the road were an \u201calmost daily\u201d fact of life, she added, which have caused frustration and dangerous driving.<\/p>\n
The objector also recalled having a recent close-call which could have ended up becoming a head-on collision.<\/p>\n
\u201cI am not alone in these experiences and have had similar incidents recounted from family, friends and neighbours,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n
\u201cAll of this is occurring before the opening of the new golf course and the other planned development for the resort.<\/p>\n
\u201cA dangerous junction on course for being a fatal one if no action is taken to upgrade it.\u201d<\/p>\n
Each lodge in the proposed development will contain four double bedrooms and an open plan lounge and dining areas.<\/p>\n

The deadline for officers to rule on the application is listed on the Highland Council website as August 17.<\/p>\n
