Brainiac has been confirmed as the villain of James Gunn\u2019s \u201cMan of Tomorrow\u201d according to a new report at The Wrap<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Since the announcement of the film, the character has long been suspected as the potential antagonist of the film that sees Superman (David Corenswet) and Lex Luthor (Nicholas Hoult) forging a temporary alliance to take on a greater threat.<\/p>\n

Gunn teased the possibility when he posted the front page of the \u201cMan of Tomorrow\u201d screenplay, with an image of a human skull with an exposed brain on the cover.<\/p>\n

The character has not been depicted in live-action films but has appeared in numerous TV series including \u201cSuperman: The Animated Series,\u201d \u201cSmallville,\u201d \u201cKrypton,\u201d and \u201cHarley Quinn\u201d along with games like \u201cInjustice 2\u201d and \u201cSuicide Squad: Kill the Justice League\u201d.<\/p>\n

Frank Grillo has also confirmed to THR<\/a> that his character of Rick Flag Sr. \u201cis a big part of the sequel\u2019s story\u201d.<\/p>\n

Production on the film is set to kick off in Atlanta in April ahead of a release on July 9th 2027. The Jimmy Olsen-led TV series spin-off will be shooting around the same time in Atlanta with Nexus Point News<\/a> indicating that Skyler Gisondo, Wendell Pierce, Beck Bennett, Mikaela Hoover, and Christopher McDonald will all reprise their \u201cSuperman\u201d roles for that show.<\/p>\n
