Free Upper West Side News, Delivered To Your Inbox<\/a><\/p>\n Community Board 7<\/a> held its Business & Consumer Issues meeting<\/a> on Wednesday night, where restaurant owners and their legal representatives presented plans to move their liquor license applications forward. We learned about two new restaurants expected to open in the neighborhood soon.<\/p>\n A new Mexican restaurant is expected to open soon at 224 West 104th Street (between Broadway and Amsterdam Avenue).\u00a0The last tenant at this space was Malaysia Grill, which closed last year<\/a>. According to a legal representative, the restaurant\u2013which appears to be called Consuelo\u2013will serve \u201chigh-end\u201d tapas-style Mexican and Latin dishes. Seating will be limited to about 20 chairs or less, and they plan on having a piano in addition to light background music. The restaurant will be open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. <\/p>\n Michael Levy is planning an \u201celevated American bistro that\u2019s also kosher\u201d at 161 West 106th Street (between Columbus and Amsterdam Avenues), he told the board. The space was previously home to Makana. The name of the new restaurant will be Picnic by the Black Parrot, according to CB7 notes, and Levy says they\u2019re aiming to open by February. \u201cWe\u2019re hoping for about 20 to 24 table seats. About eight to 10 at the bar and two to four at the counter windows.\u201d The restaurant will be open every day but Friday.<\/p>\n We\u2019ll provide updates when we know more about both of these restaurants.<\/p>\n
