Thousands sign petition calling for much-loved golf course to be saved from closure<\/a>\n<\/p>\n\n Under the new proposals, the site could be designated as a nature park.\n<\/p>\n
\n BCP Council leader Millie Earl said: “I’m excited about the future of the Solent Meads site and the opportunity it holds for the local community.”\n<\/p>\n
\n “With the lease about to expire on the golf course we have a chance to legally protect it from future development and open it up to the public as a nature park.\n<\/p>\n
\n “One of our key commitments as an administration is to improve access to green space for residents and to support nature to recover.”\n<\/p>\n
\n “By designating the site as a nature park and encouraging nature to thrive there, we will protect it for residents now, and long into the future, to enjoy. ”\n<\/p>\n
\n As reported by the Echo, a petition titled \u201cStop BCP From Closing Solent Meads Golf Course\u201d raised concerns about the site\u2019s future.\n<\/p>\n
\n It has gathered thousands of signatures calling for the course to remain open either under Golf for All Limited or a new golf operator.\n<\/p>\n
