\n Michelle Fisher has had a successful first season in her new art gallery and shop, Dollyhotdogs, which she opened on South Street at the start of July.\n<\/p>\n
\n She operates two shops in Bridport and Lyme Regis with her friend and business partner Kate Batchelor, and the quirky name comes from the talented painter\u2019s childhood nickname which stuck with her over the years.\n<\/p>\n
\n Michelle said she was aware of Bridport\u2019s enthusiasm for art and reputations for supporting independent businesses, but has been overwhelmed by the support from the town.\n<\/p>\n

\n She said: \u201cWe are loving it here. It has been so joyful, and we have had so much support and love from the community.\n<\/p>\n
\n \u201cYou don\u2019t really get that anywhere else and I have had the support from the markets and everything. Whatever happens in town is so well attended and supported. It’s is independent people just doing what they love.\u201d\n<\/p>\n
\n As well as selling affordable artwork, Michelle has commissioned large oil paintings, some fetching nearly \u00a33,000 and as a result of the interest, she has decided to host workshops next year for budding artist in town.\n<\/p>\n
\n \u201cNormally I wouldn\u2019t put myself out there to do courses but I have the confidence to do it based on the interest I have had,\u201d Michelle said.\n<\/p>\n

\n All the products sold in the shop are designed and produced in the UK and the business has a no plastic packaging policy and strives for sustainability.\n<\/p>\n
\n Michelle studied art in Brighton and graduated in 2005. She was previously an illustrator and returned to selling art after having children by first selling pieces in Bridport Market.\n<\/p>\n
\n She is also planning to host a local art exhibition when business is anticipated to quieten down after the influx in summer trade, to increase her presence in the town.\n<\/p>\n
\n She said: \u201cThat is what Bridport is all about. It\u2019s about getting involved in the town and not just being here as a shop. It\u2019s such a creative hub it has got such a creative vein running through the town.\u201d\n<\/p>\n
