An Irish club cyclist has had his \u20ac10,000 new bike stolen and then saw it immediately offered for sale on snapchat and on an internet marketplace.<\/p>\n
Garda\u00ed then believed they had tracked down the bike, and the man believed to be selling it online, with a search operation taking place.<\/p>\n
However, those searches drew a blank and, frustratingly, the bike remains unaccounted for while its owner has been receiving updates from other cyclists reporting they have spotted the bike being ridden in central Dublin.<\/p>\n
The owner \u2013 Dunboyne Cycling Club member Miche\u00e1l Bailey \u2013 had the Fifty One Assassin stolen in Dublin\u2019s south inner city on Tuesday night. The bike was offered for sale on a Snapchat account, and on an online marketplace, the following day.<\/p>\n
It appears the Snapchat account, registered by a named individual, published a photograph of the bike, saying it was in \u201cmint\u201d condition as he offered it for sale.<\/p>\n
On the basis of that post, garda\u00ed decided to carry out two searches, though the bike was not at those locations and remains unaccounted for. However, after a photo of the bike, with messages urging people to keep an eye out for it, were published on social media, Miche\u00e1l received reports of sightings.<\/p>\n
One person told him they had seen the bike being ridden by a man in his 20s on the quays in Dublin\u2019s south inner city on Wednesday morning. A detailed description of the man on the bike was supplied in the hope it may help garda\u00ed to identify him via CCTV.<\/p>\n
The blue Fifty One Assassin, with a replacement value of \u20ac10,000 was pictured for sale with its Princeton wheels and Enve bars and seat post.<\/p>\n
