The dust may have settled on the 2025 Ryder Cup<\/a> – but the shots keep coming for United States captain Keegan Bradley.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Europe stormed into an early lead at the 45th edition of the biennial event at Bethpage Black in September.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Over the first two days of the contest, the Europeans ripped through Bradley’s men and stormed into a five-point lead that left US fans, for the most part, stunned and silent.\u00a0<\/p>\n

By Saturday evening, there were was chatter over whether Europe could inflict a record defeat on the stars and stripes in their own back yard.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Sunday singles were absorbing and the Americans threatened an almighty comeback – but the damage had already been done.\u00a0<\/p>\n

In the immediate aftermath of defeat, Bradley<\/a> acknowledged he made some mistakes with the course set-up.\u00a0<\/p>\n

He also complained about the rare use of a controversial “envelope rule” that he believed played its part on the final result.\u00a0<\/p>\n

In his most recent comments, the 39-year-old said he doesn’t think he will ever be able to get over the defeat in New York<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Former Scottish professional golfer turned commentator and analyst Andrew Coltart took Bradley to task on the most recent edition of the Sky Sports Golf podcast.<\/p>\n

Coltart played in one Ryder Cup, at Brookline in 1999, and lost both of his matches.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The rookie was sent out in the fifth match by captain Mark James and lost 3&2 to Tiger Woods<\/a> in the singles.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“I think the singles flattered Keegan Bradley’s inability as a captain,” the two-time European Tour winner said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“Everything he could work out, everything he could plan for with the partnerships and pairings, that all went against him.<\/p>\n

“What couldn’t go against him is players playing their own ball and going about their business in their own way.<\/p>\n

The team captains for the 2027 Ryder Cup in Ireland are yet to be determined.\u00a0<\/p>\n

There was widespread belief that Luke Donald would walk away from the role regardless of the result at Bethpage.\u00a0<\/p>\n

But now he has a shot at creating even more history by potentially becoming the first captain to lead Europe to three victories in a row.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Donald has been given a few months by Ryder Cup officials to make up his mind.\u00a0<\/p>\n

At last week’s PGA Tour event, Donald dropped his biggest hint yet over what his decision will be<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Gary Player clarifies Ryder Cup comments<\/p>\n

Elsewhere, nine-time major winner Gary Player caused a stir when he declared the Ryder Cup was “the worst event in the world”.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Player was referencing the ugly crowd behaviour and abuse hurled towards the European team outside of the gallery ropes.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Like many prominent figures in the game, Player condemned what he saw from a select few.\u00a0<\/p>\n

He singled out Scottie Scheffler<\/a> and Tommy Fleetwood<\/a> for praise, explaining they are the only two golfers who handle themselves with class.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Ahead of his 90th birthday, Player told Golf Digest in a Q&A that he wanted to see the Ryder Cup abolished.\u00a0<\/p>\n

He has since said nothing could be further from the truth, issuing a lengthy statement<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n
