This could briefly spread to the Midlands and south-east England on Wednesday morning. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">It&#8217;s too early to say though if and where the snow will settle.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">It is unlikely to be as bad as the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/articles\/clyd9xwe33no\" class=\"ssrcss-16fdtb5-InlineLink e1kn3p7n0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">snowy and icy spell this time last year<\/a> which closed hundreds of schools and gave 12cm of snow in Nottingham.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Over recent decades the Met Office have observed a decrease in the frequency, duration, and intensity of cold spells, clearly linked to climate change. According to the latest <a href=\"https:\/\/www.metoffice.gov.uk\/research\/climate\/maps-and-data\/about\/state-of-climate\" class=\"ssrcss-16fdtb5-InlineLink e1kn3p7n0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">State of the Climate Report, external<\/a>, air and ground frosts have reduced by around a quarter since the 1980s.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"It is still a few days away and the details for next week are likely to change.
