(Image credit: Blue Origin)<\/p>\n<p id=\"fcb3d4f1-ded0-4863-9ae7-12d369cb45a7\">Previously, only one company had ever pulled off this dramatic maneuver \u2014 <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/18853-spacex.html\" data-mrf-recirculation=\"inline-link\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/18853-spacex.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">SpaceX<\/a>, which has pioneered the recovery and reuse of orbital rockets.<\/p>\n<p><a id=\"elk-seasonal\" class=\"paywall\" aria-hidden=\"true\" data-url=\"\" href=\"\" target=\"_blank\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\" data-hl-processed=\"none\"\/><\/p>\n<p id=\"fcb3d4f1-ded0-4863-9ae7-12d369cb45a7-1\"><a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/19584-blue-origin-quiet-plans-for-spaceships.html\" data-mrf-recirculation=\"inline-link\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/19584-blue-origin-quiet-plans-for-spaceships.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Blue Origin<\/a> founder <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/19341-jeff-bezos.html\" data-mrf-recirculation=\"inline-link\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/19341-jeff-bezos.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Jeff Bezos<\/a> celebrated the New Glenn landing on X, posting several videos of the 188-foot-tall (57 meters) booster steering its way through the sky toward Jacklyn.<\/p>\n<p>One video showed the landing itself, during which the booster sidled over to Jacklyn rather than drop directly onto it from above.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We nominally target a few hundred feet away from Jacklyn to avoid a severe impact if engines fail to start or start slowly,&#8221; Bezos wrote in the Friday morning (Nov. 14) <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/JeffBezos\/status\/1989358416532488406\" target=\"_blank\" data-url=\"https:\/\/x.com\/JeffBezos\/status\/1989358416532488406\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\" data-hl-processed=\"none\" data-mrf-recirculation=\"inline-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">X post<\/a> that featured this video. &#8220;We\u2019ll incrementally reduce that conservatism over time.
