Bon Iver<\/a>\u2019s\u00a0Justin Vernon<\/a>\u00a0has said he would be \u201cvery surprised\u201d if he ever makes another full-length album.<\/p>\n

The fifth Bon Iver record, \u2018SABLE,\u00a0fABLE<\/a>\u2019,\u00a0was released in April via Jagjaguwar, which Vernon produced with Jim-E Stack at his own April Base Studio in\u00a0Wisonsin, and it has gone on to pick up\u00a0a Grammy nomination for Best Alternative Music Album<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Despite its success, Vernon has now strongly hinted that the LP may prove to be the final Bon Iver album, as he has stopped writing songs for the first time in his life.<\/p>\n

In an interview with\u00a0The Times<\/a>, he spoke about\u00a0how his music has managed to move so many people.\u00a0\u201cI\u2019m\u00a0tapped into the emotion of music\u00a0\u2013\u00a0the blue part,\u201d he said.\u00a0\u201cI have that in me thanks to the thousands of musicians\u00a0I\u2019ve\u00a0absorbed, and\u00a0they\u2019re\u00a0just in there.\u201d<\/p>\n

However, he added:\u00a0\u201cBut I\u00a0don\u2019t\u00a0know how much is left.\u00a0I\u2019ve\u00a0expelled a lot of it.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

When asked directly if that meant there would be no more Bon Iver albums, he responded:\u00a0\u201cI would be\u00a0very surprised.\u00a0For the first time since I was 12,\u00a0I\u2019m\u00a0not writing songs.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThere aren\u2019t any in here,\u201d he added, pointing at his heart. \u201cI have been writing since puberty and this is unfamiliar territory \u2013 but I am accepting it. It\u2019s scary sometimes, but I\u2019m just letting it happen \u2026\u201d<\/p>\n

Bon Iver made a major splash with the debut album \u2018For Emma, Forever Ago\u2019 in 2007, which Vernon recorded in isolation in a cabin in Wisconsin.\u00a0A 2011 self-titled album<\/a>, 2016\u2019s \u201822, A Million<\/a>\u2019 and 2019\u2019s \u2018i,\u00a0i<\/a>\u2019 followed, as did collaborations with major names such as\u00a0Taylor Swift<\/a>,\u00a0Kanye West<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Charli xcx<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In a four-star review of \u2018SABLE, fABLE\u2019<\/a>,\u00a0NME\u00a0commended the album which was feared to be the departure of the Bon Iver\u00a0project, but\u00a0instead is being seen as a \u201crebirth\u201d.<\/p>\n

It reads: \u201cThough this is not Bon Iver\u2019s answer to \u2018Brat\u2019 summer by any stretch of the imagination, many of these same existential questions also linger on \u2018SABLE,\u00a0fABLE\u2019 \u2013 a record that grapples with his own identity as much as it does the twists and turns of life. Though some fans feared this might well be an epilogue to the Bon Iver project, it comes across as more of a rebirth.\u201d<\/p>\n

Last month,\u00a0Bon Iver featured on the new Haim song \u2018Tie You Down\u2019<\/a>, from the group\u2019s deluxe edition of their latest album \u2018I Quit<\/a>\u2019.<\/p>\n
