\n\tDan McGrath, an Emmy-winning writer and producer for \u201cThe Simpsons<\/a>,\u201d died on Nov. 14. He was 61.<\/p>\n

\n\tHis sister, Gail McGrath Garabadian, confirmed his death in a Facebook<\/a> post early Saturday morning.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWe lost my incredible brother Danny yesterday,\u201d she wrote. \u201cHe was a special man, one of a kind. An incredible son, brother, uncle and friend. Our hearts are broken.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tMcGrath wrote 50 episodes of \u201cThe Simpsons\u201d from 1992 to 1994 and produced 24 episodes from 1996 to 1998. He won an Emmy for his work on the series in 1997, taking home the honor for outstanding animated program for \u201cHomer\u2019s Phobia.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe episode features director John Waters as a gay antiques dealer befriended by Marge. When Marge brings him home to meet the family, Homer quickly dissociates and does everything he can to keep Bart away from his influence. <\/p>\n

\n\tSome of McGrath\u2019s standout episodes include \u201cBoy-Scoutz \u2018n the Hood,\u201d \u201cThe Devil and Homer Simpson,\u201d and \u201cTime and Punishment.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tMcGrath got his break writing on \u201cSaturday Night\u201d from 1991 to 1992. There, he became a frequent collaborator with \u201cSNL\u201d legends Chris Farley and Adam Sandler. He earned an Emmy nomination for his work on the iconic late-night sketch show in 1992.<\/p>\n

\n\tHis other writing credits include \u201cKing of the Hill,\u201d \u201cMission Hill,\u201d \u201cSammy,\u201d \u201cThe PJs\u201d and \u201cMuppets Tonight.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tBorn in Brooklyn, N.Y., McGrath graduated from Harvard University, where he was the vice president of the Harvard Lampoon.<\/p>\n

\n\tMcGrath\u2019s obituary<\/a> reads, \u201cHis prodigious talents and singular personality will be missed by many devoted friends.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tInstead of flowers, McGrath\u2019s family requests donations be made to his alma mater, Regis High School.<\/p>\n
