Queen<\/a>\u2018s\u00a0Brian May<\/a> has said that his health issues served as a \u201cwake-up call\u201d after suffering a minor stroke last year.<\/p>\n

During a recent appearance on Alan Titchmarsh\u2019s Love Your Weekend<\/a>, the veteran guitarist said he was lucky to have recovered after experiencing a \u201cnumber\u201d of conditions in previous years.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe were concerned,\u201d said host Titchmarsh. \u201cYou had a bit of a stroke. But, you seem to be fully recovered, that was last year.\u201d<\/p>\n

May responded: \u201cI\u2019ve had a number of things, Alan, yeah, the stroke was one of them. I\u2019ve been lucky, I get these things, but I seem to be able to get out of them. They give you a wake-up call.\u201d<\/p>\n

In September, May told fans about the minor stroke he experienced<\/a>, saying it came on \u201call of a sudden, out of the blue\u201d and left him without any control over one of his arms. He said the incident was \u201ca little scary\u201d but praised the \u201cfantastic\u201d medical care he had received.<\/p>\n

Speaking to the Guitarist<\/a> at the time, May touched on his anxieties about not being able to play following his health setbacks<\/a>. \u201cIt went through my mind. When I suddenly couldn\u2019t control this left arm, it was quite scary. I had no idea what was going on.\u201d<\/p>\n

Speaking to Titchmarsh, he explained: \u201cThey called it a minor stroke, and all of a sudden out of the blue, I didn\u2019t have any control of this arm,\u201d he said, moving his left arm and wiggling his fingers to show the movement had returned.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was a little scary, I have to say. I had the most fantastic care and attention from the hospital where I went, blue lights flashing, the lot, it was very exciting. I might post a video if you like.\u201d<\/p>\n

He continued: \u201cI didn\u2019t wanna say anything at the time because I didn\u2019t want anything surrounding it, I really don\u2019t want sympathy. Please don\u2019t do that, because it\u2019ll clutter up my inbox, and I hate that. The good news is I\u2019m OK.\u201d<\/p>\n

Back in 2020, his health issues reared their head once again after the guitarist was admitted to hospital after suffering a heart attack<\/a>\u00a0caused by an arterial disease.\u00a0He told fans that he was \u201cvery near death\u201d<\/a>\u00a0after doctors found he had three congested arteries.<\/p>\n

Earlier this month, a fully recovered May reunited with Benson Boone<\/a> to perform two songs in London, namely\u00a0Queen\u2019s \u2018Bohemian Rhapsody\u2019, followed by the Boone hit \u2018Beautiful Things\u2019. The crowd\u2019s response drew praise from Boone, who proclaimed: \u201cNow that is how a crowd should sound when they see Brian May!\u201d The comment is a\u00a0dig at the Coachella crowd<\/a>, who\u00a0gave May a lukewarm welcome when he appeared during Boone\u2019s set as a special guest earlier this year<\/a>.<\/p>\n

May and Boone\u00a0first joined forces at the Californian festival earlier this year<\/a>, but the guitarist\u2019s appearance fell flat with the younger crowd. Following the performance, Boone\u00a0took shots at festivalgoers, joking in a video on TikTok<\/a>:\u00a0\u201cMe trying to get the crowd at Coachella to understand what an absolute legend Brian May is and the cultural impact he has on music and THE WORLD.\u201d<\/p>\n

During the second weekend of Coachella, Boone\u00a0substituted May\u2019s performance with a cardboard cutout of the guitarist<\/a>.<\/p>\n

As for Queen, the\u00a0band were named the UK\u2019s most-played rock act of the 21st century back in October<\/a>. The month before that, May\u00a0revealed that\u00a0Queen have worked on new music with Adam Lambert<\/a>, though they\u2019re not sure it will go anywhere. \u201cNot many people know, but Adam and we have been in the studio trying things. Nothing really materialised so far. Some things are meant to be and some things are not.\u201d<\/p>\n

He then added that the band have considered bringing their live show to The Sphere in Las Vegas. \u201c\u200aI\u2019m very keen on the Sphere.
