{"id":269219,"date":"2025-11-18T06:59:07","date_gmt":"2025-11-18T06:59:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/269219\/"},"modified":"2025-11-18T06:59:07","modified_gmt":"2025-11-18T06:59:07","slug":"greater-manchester-adhd-and-autism-assessments-paused","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/269219\/","title":{"rendered":"Greater Manchester ADHD and autism assessments paused"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">NHS Greater Manchester said the pause is a response to a significant increase in demand across both adult and children&#8217;s autism and ADHD services.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">NHS GM said: &#8220;Across the country, and here in Greater Manchester, demand for autism and ADHD assessments has risen sharply over recent years. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;The number of children and adults waiting has increased year on year and the rate of referrals continues to exceed available capacity. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;This creates very long waits, which we know are difficult for individuals and families.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">It said it was working with providers and partners to develop &#8220;a fair and sustainable long-term approach to meet this rising demand&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;We are also increasing investment in community-based services, self-help resources, digital solutions, coaching and peer support groups, so that people can access practical help and advice while waiting for assessment or support,&#8221; a spokesperson said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;Patients on existing waiting lists will retain their place and their original referral date.
