Ronnie Wood<\/a> has celebrated 50 years as a Rolling Stone<\/a> by unveiling four new portraits of him and his bandmates.<\/p>\n

The four new paintings have been shared as part of a new \u2018Paint It Black\u2019 collection, and will be available in a run of signed, limited edition prints.<\/p>\n

Painted by the rock icon on top of a black background, four new artworks have been made: one of frontman Mick Jagger<\/a>, one of Keith Richards<\/a>, one of late drummer Charlie Watts<\/a>, and a new self-portrait. As the name indicates, their completion coincides with the reissue of \u2018Black and Blue\u2019<\/a> \u2013 the record that saw Wood become a permanent member of the band.<\/p>\n

The recording sessions for that LP served as auditions following Mick Taylor\u2019s exit, and meant that the album had contributions from the likes of guitar greats Harvey Mandel, Wayne Perkins, Jeff Beck<\/a> and Robert A. Johnson. Wood performed on three tracks and later joined as a full-time member.<\/p>\n

Reflecting on the milestone and the new art collection, the musician said: \u201cIt\u2019s hard to believe it\u2019s been 50 years since I joined The Rolling Stones. In these portraits, I wanted to capture the spirit of Mick, Keith, me, and our late friend Charlie Watts, and the live shows we\u2019ve been lucky enough to play together.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m proud of the journey we\u2019ve been on, and it felt right to share these prints with the world now. Art has defined my life, and I\u2019ve been painting even longer than I\u2019ve been playing music,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

While globally recognised for his musical talent, Wood clarified that he has actually \u201cbeen painting and drawing for seven decades, which is even longer than I\u2019ve been playing music\u201d, and even won an award from the BBC\u2019s Sketch Club for one of the drawings from his childhood.<\/p>\n

\u201cI paint to music, and sometimes when I\u2019m playing, in my head I\u2019m doing it to a painting. Art fills my life, art is my life, and art will continue to be my life,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

The band celebrating five decades of \u2018Black And Blue\u2019 also comes at the same time that rumours are swirling about a new album and tour<\/a> for 2026.<\/p>\n

The last Stones album was 2023\u2019s \u2018Hackney Diamonds<\/a>\u2019, their 24th studio record and first in 18 years. It featured the final recordings of their late drummer Charlie Watts <\/a>and included guest appearances from Lady Gaga<\/a>, Elton John<\/a>, Paul McCartney <\/a>and Stevie Wonder<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In September, Ronnie Wood revealed that the band had finished recording a follow-up album<\/a> and suggested that it was set for release next year.<\/p>\n

\u201cYes you will be getting a new album next year. It is done,\u201d Wood told The Sun. \u201cYes we are hoping to do some dates\u2026 Hopefully we will be back out there but I am still waiting to find out myself.\u201d<\/p>\n

While details remain sparse, Andrew Watt did confirm that he has been working with the band on the record<\/a>, and the band\u2019s touring manager and keyboardist teased that a European 2026 tour is looking likely.<\/a><\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Mick Jagger and co. toured US stadiums last year, and reports came out earlier this year that they had scrapped plans to go on tour in the UK and Europe<\/a> because of scheduling issues.<\/p>\n

They last played the UK in 2022, when two huge BST Hyde Park gigs<\/a> followed a stadium show at Liverpool\u2019s Anfield<\/a>.<\/p>\n

While nothing has been confirmed at time of writing, Wood did tell NME in 2023<\/a> that he didn\u2019t \u201cthink it would be\u201d another 18 years until a new album.<\/p>\n

NME gave \u2018Hackney Diamonds\u2019 a four-star review upon its release<\/a>, describing it as an \u201cabsolute barnstormer\u201d and adding, \u201cIf \u2018Hackney Diamonds\u2019 does round off the most successful career in rock music ever, it wouldn\u2019t be a bad place to leave it.
