Netflix has confirmed that Sarah Lancashire will return for a second season <\/a>of Black Doves. Sharing the news today, Netflix announced that production is under way for the next season, while introducing new cast additions for season two. <\/p>\n

Season one of the critically acclaimed Christmassy spy thriller follows Keira Knightley as a spy named Helen Webb, who has been passing on her politician husband\u2019s secrets to the covert organisation she serves, the Black Doves.<\/p>\n

After her secret lover Jason (Andrew Koji) is assassinated, her boss Mrs Reed (Sarah Lancashire) calls in Helen\u2019s old friend Sam (Ben Whishaw) to keep her safe as they attempt to uncover who killed Jason. <\/p>\n

Joining the cast for season two are Ambika Mod, who is playing Laila, an acerbic and anarchic Black Doves agent, and Babou Ceesay, who plays a Black Doves executive named Mr Conteh. <\/p>\n

Also joining the cast is Sam Riley, who plays Patrick, an emissary from a mysterious organisation, and Scream icon Neve Campbell, who will star as Cecile Mason.<\/p>\n

Reprising their roles from season one alongside Lancashire, Knightley, and Whishaw are Andrew Buchan, Kathryn Hunter, Ella Lily Hyland, Gabrielle Creevy, Agnes O\u2019Casey and Molly Chesworth.<\/p>\n

In season two, Helen will walk “a more treacherous line than ever” as she continues to betray the nation’s secrets to the Black Doves while her husband Wallace (Buchan) gets ready to become Prime Minister. <\/p>\n

The synopsis reads: “As Helen\u2019s enigmatic handler Mrs Reed is ensnared in a ruthless plot to undermine her position in the Black Doves, Helen is reunited with her best friend Sam.<\/p>\n
