David Byrne<\/a> has shared a new single, \u2018T-shirt\u2019, co-written by his longtime friend and collaborator Brian Eno<\/a> \u2013\u00a0check it out here.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Byrne, who\u2019s currently touring North America on his \u2018Who Is The Sky?\u2019<\/a> tour, named for his September album of the same name, has played \u2018T-shirt\u2019 live a number of times while across the Atlantic.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The former Talking Heads<\/a> frontman gave the song, a bright electropop track about the importance of helping others amid the current political climate, its live debut in Pittsburgh on September 16 and has now released it on streaming services.<\/p>\n

\u201cI believe in helping others \/ I will sing my freedom song \/ I donate to worthy causes \/ I go along and get along,\u201d sings Byrne on the track\u2019s first verse, before the chorus of, \u201cSee my t-shirt, take it off \/ Dance these shoes off \u2018till we drop.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

The cover art features a slightly creased T-shirt with the quote \u201cWell-behaved women seldom make history,\u201d first written by historian Laurel Thatcher Ulrich in a 1976 article, and the video features a series of T-shirts sporting various slogans.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The song itself has become a fan favourite on Byrne\u2019s tour, where it\u2019s accompanied by slogans including \u2018Make America Gay Again\u2019 and \u2018No Kings\u2019. Byrne has previously spoken out about US politics, notably sharing a playlist called \u2018The Beautiful Shitholes\u2019 in 2018<\/a> in response to comments President Donald Trump<\/a> was reported to have said regarding \u201cshithole countries\u201d in a meeting.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

He kicked off the tour by playing the Talking Heads\u2019 classic \u2018Psycho Killer\u2019 for the first time in 19 years<\/a>, while Hayley Williams joined him in New York City to play Paramore\u2019s \u2018Hard Times\u2019<\/a> as well as their recent collaboration, \u2018What Is The Reason For It?\u2019 from \u2018Who Is The Sky?\u2019.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The album was recorded with the NYC-based Ghost Train Orchestra, and alongside Williams also features St. Vincent<\/a> and The Smile<\/a>\u2019s Tom Skinner.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Byrne\u2019s North American tour is set to come to an end on December 6 with the second of two Miami shows \u2013 find tickets to his remaining US dates here<\/a>. He\u2019s then off to Australia and New Zealand in January before coming to Europe in February, including nine UK and Ireland dates. He\u2019s already been announced to play a handful of festivals in the summer, too, including Latitude<\/a> \u2013 which he\u2019s headlining \u2013 Open\u2019er<\/a>\u00a0and Mad Cool<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Earlier this month, meanwhile, Byrne opened up about the possibility that he could be on the autism spectrum<\/a> and explained that music has helped him with social skills. He has also touched on rumours of another Talking Heads reunion in recent months<\/a>, with the band celebrating the 50th anniversary of their first live performance earlier this year.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cMusically, I\u2019ve gone to a very different place,\u201d he told Rolling Stone<\/a>. \u201cAnd I also felt like there\u2019s been a fair number of reunion records and tours. And some of them were probably pretty good. Not very many. It\u2019s pretty much impossible to recapture where you were at that time in your life.\u201d<\/p>\n

As for Eno, whose work with Byrne dates back to the 1978 Talking Heads album \u2018More Songs About Building And Food\u2019, he organised the Together For Palestine concert at London\u2019s Wembley Arena in September, seeing huge performances from the likes of Damon Albarn, Paul Weller, Rachel Chinouriri and Yasiin Bey<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Speaking to NME backstage<\/a>, he assured music fans: \u201cDon\u2019t be hopeless. You are in the middle of the biggest social movement in human history. The climate movement and all of these social justice movements are all part of the same thing, it\u2019s all part of people thinking, \u2018The thing is really fucked up, we can do something about it, we have to do something about it\u2019.
