Two women have been charged in connection with the death of a dad found in a field in Inverclyde with stab wounds.<\/p>\n

Police were called after Robert Best\u2019s body was found in a field near High Mathernock Farm in Kilmacolm around 9.20am on November 11.<\/p>\n

Mr Best was reported missing from Greenock on the same day.<\/p>\n

A murder investigation was launched and two men were arrested and charged.<\/p>\n

Andrew Brodie, 51, and Stephen Shields, 44, are alleged to have stabbed the 50-year-old to death at Shields\u2019 flat on Lansbury Street on November 10.<\/p>\n

They are accused of removing the man\u2019s body in a rug and taking it to a field where they \u201cattempted to set fire to it\u201d.<\/p>\n

The pair made no plea and were remanded in custody.<\/p>\n

Detectives arrested a further three people, two women, aged 41 and 64, and a 41-year-old man.<\/p>\n

The two women were charged and are due to appear at Greenock Sheriff Court on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

The 41-year-old man has been released pending further enquiries.<\/p>\n

A 45-year-old man was previously arrested in connection with assault and released pending further enquiries.<\/p>\n
