{"id":273096,"date":"2025-11-20T07:15:07","date_gmt":"2025-11-20T07:15:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/273096\/"},"modified":"2025-11-20T07:15:07","modified_gmt":"2025-11-20T07:15:07","slug":"residents-urged-to-share-concerns-with-hospital-changes-in-dorset","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/273096\/","title":{"rendered":"Residents urged to share concerns with hospital changes in Dorset"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Poole hospital will lose its emergency department in July\/ August 2026, Mr Donald said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">He added that it will it instead becomes the &#8220;largest planned care hospital site in the country&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">It will mean people taken by ambulance for emergency treatment will go to the hospital in Bournemouth, while patients who have planned procedures, walk-ins and non-emergency healthcare services will go to the hospital in Poole.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The two hospitals are 8.4 miles (13.5 km) apart.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Mr Donald said it is hoped that the changes will help to reduce waiting times for patients.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;If we&#8217;ve got a centre dedicated to planned care then the point of this is things won&#8217;t be bumped by emergency pressures,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">He acknowledged that it is a very large change but said they are already &#8220;seeing better results&#8221; in services like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/articles\/ce8y80de84jo\" class=\"ssrcss-f6h2dj-InlineLink e1kn3p7n0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Poole&#8217;s maternity unit, which moved to Bournemouth earlier this year.<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Poole hospital will lose its emergency department in July\/ August 2026, Mr Donald said.
