Some fans are convinced that the rising UK rapper EsDeeKid is actually Timoth\u00e9e Chalamet<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The rising UK alt-rapper is best recognised for his track \u2018LV Sandals\u2019, which went viral on TikTok and featured underground UK rappers fakemink and Rico Ace. Hailing from Liverpool, he raps with a distinctive Scouse accent and takes influence from the UK grime and drill scenes, with other fan favourite tracks including \u20184 Raws\u2019 and \u2018Phantom\u2019.<\/p>\n

Little is known about the Liverpool rapper as he remains anonymous and has only been seen sporting a balaclava. Now, since dropping his album \u2018Rebel\u2019 this summer, fans have been trying to work out the musician\u2019s identity, and some are convinced that it is actually Timoth\u00e9e Chalamet.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

The claims that the actor may be EsDeeKid were first brought to light by TikTok user KJ Freeman, who highlighted how there were some clues indicating that the two could be the same person.<\/p>\n

One, he explains, is that the actor was spotted in the crowd at one of Fakemink\u2019s concerts in London, after Fakemink featured on EsDeeKid\u2019s \u2018LV Sandals\u2019. He also explained how the Wonka star has been open about his love of hip-hop in the past, even going viral after footage emerged of him as a kid rapping under the alias \u201cTimmy Tim\u201d.<\/p>\n

Freeman also quipped that \u201cfaking a Scouse accent and becoming a UK drill rapper\u201d was likely \u201cin his DNA to do some shit like that\u201d.<\/p>\n

The theory has gotten more momentum from other fans too, with some highlighting how both Chalamet and the rapper have similar double \u201ce\u201d spellings of their names, and how in close-up shots of EsDeeKid, his eyes bear a striking resemblance to those of the Dune actor.<\/p>\n

Others have also highlighted how Chalamet is taking on more acting roles that involve singing in recent years, including Wonka<\/a> and the Bob Dylan biopic Deliver Me From Nowhere.<\/a> He also made lighthearted nods to a rap career during his time on Saturday Night Live<\/a>, when he formed a parody rap duo with Pete Davidson<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Rolling Stone<\/a> has highlighted that rumours also relate to how, despite lyrics describing his rising through the ranks, EsDeeKid doesn\u2019t have a big internet footprint. When looking for earlier posts from the rapper, there was only a Tumblr account dating back to June 2024, a Bandlab profile made in April 2024, and a Letterboxd account that was made earlier this year.<\/p>\n

The outlet also shares that a profile on Cash App has his name listed as Damario Jones, and his account on Tellonym has a profile picture that looks nothing like the Call Me By Your Name actor.<\/p>\n

Neither Chalamet nor EsDeeKid have publicly commented on the rumours.<\/p>\n

While there isn\u2019t any concrete proof that EsDeeKid is in fact Chalamet, the rumours are already helping pull more intrigued fans to his upcoming shows. Next year the rapper will be heading out on a North American and Australian tour<\/a>, and he will also be joining IDLES<\/a>, Amyl & The Sniffers<\/a>, JPEGMAFIA<\/a>, and more in opening for Deftones at London\u2019s Outbreak Fest 2026.<\/a><\/p>\n

Chalamet, meanwhile, is currently gearing up for the release of his new movie, Marty Supreme.<\/p>\n
