<\/p>\nMARTIN O\u2019NEILL has revealed the appointment of a new Celtic manager is imminent.<\/p>\n
Almost three and a half weeks of conjecture over the identity of Brendan Rodgers\u2019 successor will come to an end in \u201cthe very, very, very near future\u201d according to the Irishman.<\/p>\n
Frenchman Wilfried Nancy, currently head coach at MLS outfit Columbus Crew, remains the frontrunner for the post.<\/p>\n
As he prepared for tomorrow night\u2019s Premiership encounter against St Mirren in Paisley, O\u2019Neill, poised to take charge of the team for the fifth time during his interim spell, said: \u201cI think that things are progressing pretty nicely in terms of the new manager coming in.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd my departure is certainly welcomed by me, if nothing else.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd I think at some stage or another, this is something that will happen in the very, very, very near future.\u201d<\/p>\n

O\u2019Neill, speaking to Sky Sports,<\/a> added: \u201cWe\u2019ll probably have to look slightly beyond that. No time frame yet for you.<\/p>\n \u201cMaybe time for the new manager to step in and progress it as quickly as possible.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m quite sure of it. I think that a part of his role for the new manager will be to unite the football club again.<\/p>\n \u201cCeltic disunited, if it\u2019s such a word, can\u2019t really compete. It\u2019s really as simple as that.\u201d<\/p>\n O\u2019Neill has won all three of his three domestic games since answering the call to take charge only hours after Rodgers\u2019 unexpected resignation.<\/p>\n The stand-in gaffer kicked off with a 4-0 Premiership victory over Falkirk and followed up with a 3-1 success over Rangers at Hampden in the Premier Sports League Cup semi-final to set up a showpiece showdown with tomorrow\u2019s opponents on Sunday December 14.<\/p>\n There was a 3-1 blip in Denmark in the Europa League before O\u2019Neill led the club to a 4-0 triumph over Kilmarnock at Parkhead to rack up three crucial points.<\/p>\n Now the Paisley side are in his sights as he nears the end of his caretaker spell.<\/p>\n \ud83d\udde3\ufe0f \u201cI thought it was a really sad morning\u2026 I wonder what Jock Stein would have made of it all.\u201d<\/p>\n Celtic interim boss Martin O\u2019Neill on the club\u2019s AGM, which ended early due to disruptions.
