{"id":275915,"date":"2025-11-21T19:11:11","date_gmt":"2025-11-21T19:11:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/275915\/"},"modified":"2025-11-21T19:11:11","modified_gmt":"2025-11-21T19:11:11","slug":"kevin-sinfield-to-pass-through-north-yorkshire-on-mnd-run","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/275915\/","title":{"rendered":"Kevin Sinfield to pass through North Yorkshire on MND run"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n  Sinfield is preparing to run seven ultra marathons in seven days in support of motor neurone disease (MND) charities.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  It comes after similar challenges by the Leeds Rhinos star which have raised more than \u00a310 million\u00a0for those impacted by MND and resulted in him being awarded a CBE (Commander of the British Empire).\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  <img   width=\"100%\"\/>Kevin Sinfield with his former teammate Rob Burrow who died last year aged 41 (Image: Danny Lawson\/PA Wire)\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Sinfield was greeted by hundreds of people outside York Minster after running from Headingley Stadium in December 2023.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  His latest\u00a0\u2018seven in seven in seven\u2019 challenge will see the 45-year-old take on ultra marathons in seven regions across the UK and Ireland.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Recommended reading:\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Sinfield will run from Queen Ethelburga\u2019s College, in Thorpe Underwood, on Sunday, December 7, for the final leg of the bid.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The challenge starts on Monday, December 1, in Bury St Edmunds and will see Sinfield and his team also visit Ipswich, Cork, Dundee, Swansea, Sheffield, Workington and Whitehaven.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  <img   width=\"100%\"\/>Kevin Sinfield after crossing the finish line outside York Minster in 2023 (Image: Danny Lawson\/PA Wire)\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Mike Rogers, director of research innovation at the MND Association, said Sinfield\u2019s efforts will help the association fund the \u201cbest research possible\u201d.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  \u00a0\u201cEvery day in the UK six people are diagnosed with motor neurone disease. During the week of Kevin\u2019s challenge alone another 42 will hear the words, \u2018You have MND\u2019,\u201d he said.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  \u201cHearing those words is devastating \u2013 we don\u2019t yet have effective treatments for most people living with MND \u2013 but with the money raised from Kevin\u2019s challenges we are getting closer.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  \u201cThanks to Kevin and the team and everyone who is donating so generously, the association is funding the best research possible.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  \u201cEvery single day of this extraordinary challenge counts and every mile matters.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  <img   width=\"100%\"\/>Kevin Sinfield crossing the finish line in York in 2023 (Image: PA\/Danny Lawson)\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Sally Hughes, director of services and partnerships at the MND Association, added: \u201cAs Kevin takes part in his sixth challenge it\u2019s an important reminder that six people are diagnosed with motor neurone disease every day in the UK.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  \u201cIt hits hard. MND affects entire families leaving them facing an uncertain future and an unimaginable financial burden. The MND Association supports people with MND to make every day count.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  \u201cMoney raised from the last five challenges has given more people with MND financial support through Association grants.
