\n\tUniversal\u2019s Wicked: For Good<\/a> already is casting a spell at the international box office<\/a> with $14.9 million across the first two days of play. Jon M. Chu\u2019s follow-up to last year\u2019s $758.7M global grosser began its rollout Wednesday and Thursday in 59 markets. Today adds another 19 including the UK and Spain. China is expected later this year and Japan joins on March 6.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe first Wicked was the biggest non-sequel of 2024 globally and became the top stage musical adaptation of all time<\/a> worldwide, taking the crown from Universal\u2019s own\u00a0Mamma Mia!<\/p>\n

\n\tElphaba and Glinda, as Deadline\u2019s Anthony D\u2019Alessandro has reported<\/a>, also are off to a great start domestically.\u00a0On its first day out overseas, Wicked: For Good grossed $5.8M, driven by Australia, Korea and Germany. Thursday added $8M, to reach a cume of\u00a0$14.9M, including double-bill previews in the UK & Ireland and overall Thursday results in Australia, Brazil, Mexico, Germany, Korea and the Philippines.<\/p>\n

\n\tThose\u00a0UK & Ireland\u00a0double-bill previews drew $1.4M on Thursday, dominating at No. 1. Presales have been significant, with Vue reporting earlier this week that its circuit was seeing more than double of last year\u2019s movie and the biggest presale performance a week from release\u00a0since 2021\u2019s Spider Man: No Way Home.<\/p>\n

\n\tIn\u00a0Australia,\u00a0Wicked: For Good\u00a0grossed an estimated $1.2M on opening Thursday, taking the running total to $2.3M including Wednesday sneaks. This is\u00a030% above previews for\u00a0Wicked\u00a0at the same point and placed the film at\u00a0No. 1 for the day with an 81% share of the Top 10. This is\u00a0the second-biggest opening day of the year in the market behind\u00a0Superman, the biggest non-holiday opening day so far in 2025 and the biggest opening day of all time for a stage musical adaptation.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tKorea\u00a0launched with $750K on Wednesday as the clear\u00a0No.1\u00a0in the market, accounting for a 54% share of total box office. This is\u00a0above\u00a0Wicked,\u00a0Superman\u00a0and\u00a0F1. It\u2019s also Universal\u2019s third biggest opening day of the year after Jurassic World Rebirth and How to Train Your Dragon, and Uni\u2019s best November start ever. Korea through Friday has grossed $1.7M (Friday not included in the overall total above) and is still at No. 1.<\/p>\n

\n\tMexico\u00a0kicked off to $600,000 on Thursday, in line with the first film and at No.1 in the market. The running total, including Monday\u2019s previews, is $900K through Thursday.<\/p>\n

\n\tGermany\u00a0opened to $700K on Wednesday, 79% above the first film\u2019s opening\u00a0Thursday\u00a0result.\u00a0Wicked: For Good\u00a0ranked at No. 1 in the market, taking a 35% share of the market for the day,\u00a0and grossing almost the same amount as the rest of the Top 10 titles combined. It\u00a0added $400K on Thursday to bring the running total to $1.1M across the first two days.<\/p>\n

\n\tBrazil, on a holiday Thursday, had $700K debut, almost 4x the opening Thursday of the first film, and claiming the\u00a0biggest musical opening day of all time. The running total has reached $1.1M including Wednesday\u2019s previews.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe\u00a0Philippines\u00a0is having a strong start, grossing $500K on Wednesday for the second biggest studio opening day of the year (only behind\u00a0Conjuring: Last Rites),\u00a0the\u00a0biggest opening day for a Universal film since 2018, the\u00a0biggest ever opening day for a stage adaptation\u00a0and the\u00a0fourth biggest opening day for a Universal title of all time. The market also recorded the\u00a0highest advance ticket sales of 2025\u00a0and the\u00a0biggest ticket sales ever for any Universal release. The two-day total has now reached $800K.<\/p>\n

\n\tItaly\u00a0began rollout on Wednesday, grossing $400K at\u00a0No. 1 and outperforming\u00a0Wicked\u2018s opening day result by 40%.\u00a0This continued on Thursday, adding $200K.<\/p>\n

\n\tIn the\u00a0Netherlands,\u00a0Wicked: For Good\u00a0grossed $400K in wide Wednesday previews. The title ranked\u00a0No. 1\u00a0for the day and followed\u00a0with $200K on Thursday, taking the running total to $600K.\u00a0Wicked: For Good\u00a0holds a 45% share of the market, and has registered the second-biggest opening Thursday of the year (only behind\u00a0Jurassic World Rebirth).\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tFollowing strong Tuesday previews, France\u00a0opened at No. 1 with $290K on Wednesday. This is in line with the first film. The running total through Thursday is $500K.<\/p>\n

\n\tFinally, for now,\u00a0New Zealand\u00a0had a $134K opening Thursday to lift the running total to $261K including Wednesday previews. Wicked: For Good is at No. 1 and scored the third biggest opening day of the year, behind\u00a0Superman\u00a0and\u00a0Minecraft,\u00a0and the best opening day ever for an adaptation of a stage musical.<\/p>\n
