A Wirral dad said he is “thankful to God” his children are okay after a driver allegedly swerved a trailer into his car before speeding away during rush hour. Craig Kevin, 32, from Upton, was driving his three sons – aged 13, eight and three – along the Upton Bypass at around 6pm on Monday, November 17, when the incident happened.<\/p>\n
He was travelling from Tranmere to his mum’s house so she could watch the boys while he visited his partner, who is currently in hospital recovering from surgery.<\/a><\/p>\n Craig said the road was busy when a man behind him, who was driving a dark-coloured Range Rover <\/a>with a large silver trailer attached, began acting “aggressively.”<\/p>\n Craig told the ECHO<\/a>: “It was really busy and this man behind me starts flashing his lights and beeping his horn. It’s a 40mph road and I was probably going 25 to 30 because I’d just left the roundabout and there was traffic ahead.<\/p>\n “He then undertook me when the one lane formed into two. He got level with my car, rolled down his window and started shouting and swearing at me over my son. I couldn’t hear what he was saying but he was throwing up his middle finger and looked really aggressive.”<\/p>\n Craig said the driver then sped ahead, but as he passed, he allegedly swerved his trailer “deliberately” into the side of Craig’s Ford Ecosport. He said: “It smashed up all the passenger side and burst the tyre where my son was sat. I couldn’t slam on because there were cars behind me. I was just in shock.”<\/p>\n Craig said he then pulled over with his hazard lights on as the other driver continued towards the Upton Bypass.<\/p>\n “My main priority was my kids,” he said. “They were okay but really shaken. I took them to Arrowe Park Hospital to get checked over because my oldest had a few minor injuries. We got off lucky; it could have been so much worse. If he’d pushed us more, he could have killed my three-year-old. I’m not religious but I thank God we’re all okay.”<\/p>\n Craig said the crash has deeply affected his family with his oldest son, who has autism, now frightened to get in a car. He said: “Whoever did this doesn’t realise the impact it\u2019s had on my family. It’s come at a really bad time. My son is terrified to get in a car now. And I work on the railway, meaning I start work at 3am some days. Without a car it makes it really difficult for me to get to work.”<\/p>\n Craig described the driver as a white man in his 50s, wearing glasses and a gilet. He is now appealing for witnesses: “It was so busy. There were dog walkers and drivers everywhere. Someone must have seen what happened. I just worry what he might do next. Anyone who hits a car and speeds off is clearly not a moral person.”<\/p>\n A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: \u201cWe can confirm that enquiries are ongoing following a fail-to-stop collision in Wirral<\/a> on Monday, November 17.<\/p>\n \u201cAt around 6pm, a report was received of a collision involving a dark Range Rover pulling a trailer and a Ford Ecosport at the roundabout on the Upton<\/a> Bypass close to the turning for Saughall Massie Road.<\/p>\n \u201cDamage was reportedly caused to the Ford Ecosport and one of the occupants was reportedly treated for minor injuries at hospital.<\/p>\n \u201cThe Range Rover failed to stop at the scene and enquiries are ongoing to identify this vehicle.<\/p>\n![\"The](\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/0_Craig-Kevin-3.jpg\")
