Bon Iver<\/a>\u2019s\u00a0Justin Vernon<\/a> has launched a \u201cnew colour\u201d with Pantone.<\/p>\n

The fifth Bon Iver record, \u2018SABLE,\u00a0fABLE<\/a>\u2019, was released in April via Jagjaguwar, which Vernon produced with Jim-E Stack at his own April Base Studio in Wisconsin, and it has gone on to pick up\u00a0a Grammy nomination for Best Alternative Music Album<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The record\u2019s artwork featured a shade of orange that has now been dubbed \u2018fABLE Salmon\u2019 by Pantone.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve always thought about how, underneath our skin, no matter what the pigment is, it\u2019s this kind of salmon-belly colour when it gets cut open,\u201d Vernon said in a statement. \u201cI\u2019ve always thought about the humanity of it\u2026SABLE is darkness \u2014 and the choice to go into the darkness. It\u2019s solitary. It\u2019s pressing the bruise. It\u2019s self-martyrdom and sadness. fABLE represents a new me, with new flesh for a new healthy, happy person.\u201d<\/p>\n

Pantone has launched a whole merchandise line featuring the colour, which includes mugs, notebooks, keyboards and tote bags. Vernon added: \u201cEvery band, punk or pop, is in a commercial, capitalist space. Old punk bands were the best brand-builders of all time. Black Flag has the best logo ever. I was like, \u2018Let\u2019s lean into that.’\u201d<\/p>\n

In a four-star review of \u2018SABLE, fABLE\u2019<\/a>,\u00a0NME\u00a0commended the album which was feared to be the departure of the Bon Iver\u00a0project, but\u00a0instead is being seen as a \u201crebirth\u201d.<\/p>\n

It reads: \u201cThough this is not Bon Iver\u2019s answer to \u2018Brat\u2019 summer by any stretch of the imagination, many of these same existential questions also linger on \u2018SABLE,\u00a0fABLE\u2019 \u2013 a record that grapples with his own identity as much as it does the twists and turns of life. Though some fans feared this might well be an epilogue to the Bon Iver project, it comes across as more of a rebirth.\u201d<\/p>\n

Recently, Vernon said he would be \u201cvery surprised\u201d if he ever makes another full-length album<\/a> after \u2018SABLE, fABLE\u2019.<\/p>\n

Last month,\u00a0he also featured on the new Haim song \u2018Tie You Down\u2019<\/a>, from the group\u2019s deluxe edition of their latest album \u2018I Quit<\/a>\u2019.<\/p>\n

Among Bon Iver\u2019s fans is\u00a0Tom Hiddleston<\/a>,\u00a0who told\u00a0NME\u00a0earlier this year<\/a>:\u00a0\u201cHe just has this ability to write joyful music that has a strain of melancholy, and it sounds like he\u2019s discovered a secret that we all knew but forgot about.
