{"id":278579,"date":"2025-11-23T07:49:20","date_gmt":"2025-11-23T07:49:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/278579\/"},"modified":"2025-11-23T07:49:20","modified_gmt":"2025-11-23T07:49:20","slug":"ocbc-users-can-now-send-money-directly-to-eight-digital-wallets-in-southeast-asia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/278579\/","title":{"rendered":"OCBC Users Can Now Send Money Directly to Eight Digital Wallets in Southeast Asia"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Free Newsletter<\/p>\n<p>Get the hottest Fintech Singapore News once a month in your Inbox<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/fintechnews.sg\/tag\/OCBC\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">OCBC<\/a> users in Singapore can now transfer funds directly to eight major digital wallets across Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines and Vietnam.<\/p>\n<p>This brings the bank\u2019s pay-to-wallet feature to ten wallets, following <a href=\"https:\/\/fintechnews.sg\/103398\/china\/ocbc-wechat-alipay-transfers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">last year\u2019s addition of Weixin Pay and Alipay<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The expansion is part of OCBC\u2019s partnership with <a href=\"https:\/\/fintechnews.sg\/tag\/Visa\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Visa<\/a>, which began in 2024 to enhance cross-border payments. Transfers to the new wallets are near instant and fee free.<\/p>\n<p>Supported services include Coins, GCash and PayMaya in the Philippines, GoPay, LinkAja and Ovo in Indonesia, MoMo in Vietnam and Touch \u2019n Go in Malaysia.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/bit.ly\/43iIhdV\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/Flagright-4.png\" width=\"600\" height=\"500\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Together with the two Chinese wallets, these platforms serve up to 2.72 billion users.<\/p>\n<p>The service is powered by Visa Direct, which connects to nearly 11 billion endpoints worldwide.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-57294\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/Sunny-Quek-1-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"Sunny Quek\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\"\/>Sunny Quek<\/p>\n<p>Sunny Quek, Head of Global Consumer Financial Services, OCBC said,<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen we launched pay-to-wallet transfers last year, we promised to go beyond China and we have since delivered. By connecting OCBC accounts to eight of Southeast Asia\u2019s most popular wallets, we are removing friction from cross-border payments and making remittances faster, cheaper and more inclusive.<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019re not stopping here \u2013 our long-term goal is to connect customers to 50 digital wallets worldwide, giving them the most comprehensive wallet access of any banking app.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>OCBC said the expanded coverage aims to improve the speed, cost and accessibility of remittances, particularly for Singapore\u2019s 1.6 million foreign workers, many of whom still rely on slower or costlier channels.<\/p>\n<p>With pay-to-wallet transfers, senders or employers can move money directly to a recipient\u2019s digital wallet without needing a bank account or a branch visit.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-67458\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/Adeline-Kim-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"Adeline Kim\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\"\/>Adeline Kim<\/p>\n<p>Adeline Kim, Visa Country Manager for Singapore &amp; Brunei, said,<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur latest Visa International Remittances report shows that nearly six in ten Singaporean remittance users plan to maintain or increase the amount they send overseas this year\u2014a testament to the resilience and digital maturity of Singapore\u2019s financial landscape.<\/p>\n<p>Our expanded partnership with OCBC enables us to connect additional digital wallets across Southeast Asia, empowering customers to send money quickly, securely, and conveniently.
