Rebel Wilson<\/a> is breaking her silence on all of the legal drama surrounding her directorial debut The Deb. <\/p>\n

If you recall, the 45-year-old actress\u2019 first called out the producers<\/a> for inappropriate behavior and embezzlement in July 2024, and said they were burying the movie and holding it from being released. <\/p>\n

The producers then filed a defamation lawsuit<\/a>, as did the star of the movie<\/a>, Charlotte MacInnes, who was reportedly at the center<\/a> of the inappropriate behavior.<\/p>\n

Now, Rebel is speaking out about Charlotte\u2018s lawsuit for reporting alleged harrassment. <\/p>\n

\u201cI felt that in my position as director, I had to report that. And the moment I did, [it] started all the kind of retaliation against me,\u201d she said on 60 Minutes Australia. <\/p>\n

Per the news segment, producer Amanda Ghost said she had a medical reaction to cold water during production on the movie, with Charlotte and an assistant taking her home nearby. <\/p>\n

While recalling the events, Rebel says Charlotte approached her after and said, \u201cAmanda Ghost asked me to [take] a bath and shower with her, and it made me feel really uncomfortable.\u201d<\/p>\n

When asked by the 60 Minutes Australia journalist if there was \u201cno doubt\u201d she \u201cused those words,\u201d Rebel said she was 100% sure. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\u201cShe told me she was uncomfortable, yeah,\u201d the Pitch Perfect actress said. \u201cShe came to me, she made what I obviously inferred as a sexual harassment complaint, and I had a duty to then act on it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Alleged texts between Rebel and Amanda were then presented from after the incident, where Charlotte said she was \u201call good,\u201d to which Rebel said, \u201cHow I would describe those texts, is I\u2019m trying to maintain professional communication with Amanda Ghost \u2014 she\u2019s the producer, she\u2019s the access to the money for the film. This is weeks before we start shooting the movie, and I\u2019m trying to keep a very professional communication, but at the same time I\u2019m feeling very uneasy.\u201d<\/p>\n

Rebel was asked why doesn\u2019t believe Charlotte\u2018s retraction of her initial complaint to her, she said, \u201cI think, when it gets into the details in court, I don\u2019t think anyone in their right mind believes that a medical incident occurred and Amanda Ghost needed the body warmth of an actress to save her life. It\u2019s just not credible.\u201d<\/p>\n

Also in the 60 Minutes Australia interview, Rebel recalls when things started to go wrong on the production of The Deb, and if she sees her actions since coming forward as bullying. <\/p>\n

\u201cNo, I see that as, like, standing up for my movie and the hard work that everyone put into it for years,\u201d she said. \u201cI think it\u2019s wild it\u2019s gotten to this point. I think it\u2019s a ridiculous waste of the Australian legal system.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201c[MacInnes] reported something to me, I acted on it, in my position as the director of the movie, [and] I had an ethical, moral responsibility to do that,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n
