{"id":280824,"date":"2025-11-24T15:45:13","date_gmt":"2025-11-24T15:45:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/280824\/"},"modified":"2025-11-24T15:45:13","modified_gmt":"2025-11-24T15:45:13","slug":"jersey-hospital-project-costs-reach-204m-since-2012","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/280824\/","title":{"rendered":"Jersey hospital project costs reach \u00a3204m since 2012"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Tenders have been invited for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/articles\/cwyp4kvvp3go\" class=\"ssrcss-f6h2dj-InlineLink e1kn3p7n0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">design and build of the earthworks<\/a> needed for the hospital.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The government said the works would start early in 2026.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">In 2021, when \u00a352.2m was paid out under the Our Hospital Project, it included \u00a325m for site acquisition and \u00a39.6m invested in the Enid Quenault Health and Wellbeing Centre, which is now operational. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">In 2023 alone, \u00a338.4m was spent on concept design, site acquisition and demolition at Overdale. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">A further \u00a320.2m was spent in 2024 as plans for the acute hospital moved forward.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The Jersey Audit Office in 2023 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/world-europe-jersey-65596460\" class=\"ssrcss-f6h2dj-InlineLink e1kn3p7n0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">reviewed how the hospital scheme had been managed over the past decade<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">It found that, of the \u00a3130.6m spent up to 2022, \u00a338.6m had been written off in wasted costs, with the potential for more losses as plans continued to changed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Annual breakdown:<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Tenders have been invited for the design and build of the earthworks needed for the hospital.
