There aren\u2019t many players who have been better to watch at Celtic over the years than Reo Hatate.<\/p>\n

The Celtic<\/a> midfielder was one of a number of players who was signed under the successful Ange Postecoglou era that included a Treble.<\/p>\n

It could even be argued that under Brendan Rodgers, Hatate produced his best performance<\/a> when Celtic beat RB Leipzig<\/a> in the Champions League.<\/p>\n

Even though that was only 12 months ago, a lot has changed, including the performances of Hatate<\/a> in the middle of the park. <\/p>\n

Celtic beat St Mirren<\/a> right at the death over the weekend, but it was only thanks to a Callum McGregor wonder goal from distance<\/a>. <\/p>\n

But that shouldn\u2019t hide the overall performance in Paisley, as Kris Boyd<\/a> highlighted the performance of the midfield and Hatate. <\/p>\n

The former Scotland striker questioned what on earth has happened to Hatate this season, because whilst many are looking at the forward line, those behind them aren\u2019t performing, as he told Sky Sports Football<\/a> (22\/11\/25). <\/p>\n

\u201cI think that\u2019s the key thing, he (O\u2019Neill) isn\u2019t getting carried away,\u201d said Boyd. \u201cHe is winning games of football. <\/p>\n

\u201cThere is no doubt your (Chris Sutton) team is far superior to this one. He said it there in his interview. There are players who need to be doing more, and there is. <\/p>\n

\u201cYou can\u2019t always look to Callum McGregor to drag you over the line. There are other players there. <\/p>\n

\u201cI mean, I don\u2019t know what\u2019s happened to Reo Hatate in recent months. Engels was given another opportunity, and he was really disappointing against St Mirren, in terms of getting on the ball and making things happen. <\/p>\n

\u201cI know we can point towards the forward players. Tounekti and Maeda. Johnny Kenny, when he was on as well, and say, \u2018What did they do?\u2019 <\/p>\n

\u201cBut you are depending on the ones behind you as well. I thought they were poor. It doesn\u2019t matter. They managed to get the three points.\u201d<\/p>\n

Thankfully, Martin O\u2019Neill isn\u2019t playing the good cop role, just because he is in interim charge, and he is calling out the team\u2019s performance.<\/p>\n

After the late winner against St Mirren, O\u2019Neill touched upon how the performance wasn\u2019t good enough, and Boyd praised the legendary coach for telling the truth. <\/p>\n

\u201cI think, from Martin O\u2019Neill\u2019s point of view, being able to stand there and tell the truth, because a lot of managers would go up there and fluff it,\u201d added Boyd. <\/p>\n

\u201cThey will get through the interviews, and players will think, \u2018I have done okay.\u2019 He knows that level of performance will get Celtic into trouble.\u201d<\/p>\n
