{"id":283192,"date":"2025-11-25T21:34:07","date_gmt":"2025-11-25T21:34:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/283192\/"},"modified":"2025-11-25T21:34:07","modified_gmt":"2025-11-25T21:34:07","slug":"red-spider-nebula-nasa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/283192\/","title":{"rendered":"Red Spider Nebula &#8211; NASA"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Using its\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/science.nasa.gov\/mission\/webb\/nircam\/\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Near-InfraRed Camera<\/a>\u00a0(NIRCam), NASA\u2019s James Webb Space Telescope captured never-before-seen details of the Red Spider Nebula, a planetary nebula, in this image <a href=\"https:\/\/esawebb.org\/images\/potm2510a\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">released on Oct. 26, 2025<\/a>. NIRCam is Webb\u2019s primary near-infrared imager, providing high-resolution imaging and spectroscopy for a wide variety of investigations.<\/p>\n<p>Webb\u2019s new view of the Red Spider Nebula reveals for the first time the full extent of the nebula\u2019s outstretched lobes, which form the \u2018legs\u2019 of the spider. These lobes, shown in blue, are traced by light emitted from H2 molecules, which contain two hydrogen atoms bonded together. Stretching over the entirety of NIRCam\u2019s field of view, these lobes are shown to be closed, bubble-like structures that each extend about 3 light-years. Outflowing gas from the center of the nebula has inflated these massive bubbles over thousands of years.<\/p>\n<p>Image credit: ESA\/Webb, NASA &amp; CSA, J. H.
