{"id":284547,"date":"2025-11-26T15:17:08","date_gmt":"2025-11-26T15:17:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/284547\/"},"modified":"2025-11-26T15:17:08","modified_gmt":"2025-11-26T15:17:08","slug":"gp-who-harassed-woman-raped-by-his-son-charged-with-stalking","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/284547\/","title":{"rendered":"GP who &#8216;harassed&#8217; woman raped by his son charged with stalking"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 eZyhnA\">A GP has appeared in court charged with stalking a woman raped by his son.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 eZyhnA\">Andrew McFarlane, 61, faces claims he caused Ellie Wilson &#8220;fear and alarm&#8221; by posting a series of offensive, derogatory and abusive comments on a number of social media platforms between October 2023 and October 2025.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 eZyhnA\">His son, Daniel McFarlane, was jailed for five years in 2022 for raping Ms Wilson, who has since become a campaigner for survivors of sexual violence.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 eZyhnA\">Dr McFarlane, a GP in the Highlands, made no plea during a hearing at Inverness Sheriff Court on Tuesday. The case was continued until next month so that Dr McFarlane could obtain legal representation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 eZyhnA\">Dr McFarlane was reported to the General Medical Council (GMC) over the allegations after he was arrested in August.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 eZyhnA\">It is also claimed Dr McFarlane posted screenshots of private and sexual conversations between his son and Ms Wilson.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 eZyhnA\">Daniel McFarlane attacked Ms Wilson between December 2017 and February 2018 when he was a medical student at the University of Glasgow.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 eZyhnA\">He was found guilty of two rape charges and sentenced to five years in prison in July 2022.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 eZyhnA\">Dr McFarlane was bailed and is due to appear again on 23 December.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"A GP has appeared in court charged with stalking a woman raped by his son.
