{"id":284672,"date":"2025-11-26T16:47:09","date_gmt":"2025-11-26T16:47:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/284672\/"},"modified":"2025-11-26T16:47:09","modified_gmt":"2025-11-26T16:47:09","slug":"budget-2025-lifetime-isa-to-be-scrapped","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/284672\/","title":{"rendered":"Budget 2025: lifetime Isa to be scrapped"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The government is set to consult on lifetime Isa reform in early 2026, with plans to scrap the product.<\/p>\n<p>Following this consultation, it will replace the product, which was introduced in 2017, with a fresh <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ftadviser.com\/isas\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Isa<\/a> aimed at first time buyers. <\/p>\n<p>The Budget said: \u201cThe government will publish a consultation in early 2026 on the implementation of a new, simpler Isa product to support first time buyers to buy a home.<\/p>\n<p>            Recommended<br \/>\n            <a class=\"recommended-article-link\" data-trackable=\"recommended-article\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ftadviser.com\/budget\/2025\/11\/26\/budget-2025-chancellor-reduces-cash-isa-allowance-to-12k-for-under-65s\/\" data-articleid=\"17f76133-6333-467b-9e43-5b52e42ad668\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><\/p>\n<p>                        <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/822548aa-78cf-40f9-ba0a-ce48daf3d207.jpg\" width=\"290px\" height=\"290px\" alt=\"Recommended article's image\" loading=\"lazy\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Budget 2025: chancellor reduces cash Isa allowance to \u00a312k for under-65s<\/p>\n<p>            <\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cOnce available, this new product will be offered in place of the lifetime Isa.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It comes after the chancellor announced changes to the cash Isa which will see the allowance reduced to \u00a312,000 for under 65s.<\/p>\n<p>Rachael Griffin, tax and financial planning expert at Quilter, welcomed the changes to the \u201cconfused product\u201d. <\/p>\n<p>She said: \u201cAs it currently stands, the lifetime Isa has attempted to serve two distinct goals \u2013 saving for retirement and saving for a first home &#8211;
