Right now, Caicedo<\/a> may just be the very best player in his position, with the 24-year-old helping Chelsea<\/a> to beat Barcelona in the Champions League<\/a> on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

This season, Caicedo has caught the attention of Yaya Toure<\/a> and so many others with his performances.<\/p>\n

Yet Makelele<\/a> has still been able to name three former Chelsea midfielders he would take over the Ecuadorian.<\/p>\n

In a game of blind ranking with TRNDR Football on TikTok<\/a>, Makelele placed himself, Michael Essien<\/a> and N\u2019Golo Kante<\/a> all above Caicedo.<\/p>\n

The trio of former Chelsea midfielders all have something in common: they have all won a Premier League<\/a> title.<\/p>\n

Caicedo, on the other hand, is yet to achieve that at Stamford Bridge<\/a> and many doubt he will this season.<\/p>\n

For example, ex-Manchester United and England defender Gary Neville recently ruled Chelsea out of the title race<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Can Chelsea win the Premier League title this season? <\/p>\n

Caicedo and his teammates, though, are just six points behind league leaders Arsenal and can cut that deficit to three points if they beat them on Sunday.<\/p>\n

Ultimately, Caicedo may need to win a Premier League title before people start to put him on the same level as Makelele and Kante.<\/p>\n

That being said, you can still argue that the Ecuador international has just as much ability as the two. Technically, Essien was perhaps superior. He could strike the ball perfectly.<\/p>\n

As for Caicedo and Essien, the latter was nowhere near as influential as the former on the pitch, albeit their midfield roles were quite different.<\/p>\n

This season, Caicedo has helped Chelsea to win matches with both his defensive contribution and the goals he has started adding to his game. He just edges Essien, but that gap could become much wider in the near future.<\/p>\n
