Ghanaian singer <\/a><\/a><\/a>Wendy Shay<\/a> has clarified why she refused a drink presented to her during a visit to the Ga Mantse\u2019s palace.<\/p>\n

According to her, she was acting strictly under medical instructions and meant no disrespect to tradition.<\/p>\n

Speaking in an interview on Okay FM on November 26, 2025, the artiste explained that she had gone to the palace to pay homage ahead of her performance because she believes in respecting traditional authority.<\/p>\n

\u201cI went to the palace because that was the 3rd time I was doing a show on his land so I felt it was right for me to go and see him. I do believe everything has a head. There\u2019s a leader and a head everywhere you find yourself so you need to give that respect,\u201d she said. <\/p>\n

<\/a><\/a><\/a>Wendy Shay<\/a> stated that the liquid offered to her was not water but Schnapp, and due to the medication she was on, she had been instructed by her doctor to avoid all forms of alcohol.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat was offered to me wasn\u2019t water. I think it was Schnapp and I had taken medicine. I wasn\u2019t supposed to take in alcohol or anything alcoholic due to the medication I was on. It wasn\u2019t as if I was disrespecting them and I really respect traditions,\u201d she explained. <\/p>\n

She continued, \u201cBecause I had a show coming up, I needed to be fit, that\u2019s why my doctor instructed me not to take alcohol. My doctor strictly instructed me not to even let alcohol on my tongue that\u2019s why I rejected it.\u201d<\/p>\n

<\/a><\/a><\/a>Wendy Shay<\/a> emphasised that her action was not driven by arrogance but by health concerns, especially as she had a show coming up and needed to stay fit. <\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m not arrogant at all. Everyone knows I\u2019m so welcoming and friendly. The job I do comes with me being welcoming and allowing people to get close to me so if I\u2019m arrogant, I wouldn\u2019t be able to do it,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n
