Crystal Palace<\/a> manager Oliver Glasner has seen his name thrust into the Liverpool spotlight in his homeland, while Arne Slot<\/a> discussed Joe Gomez<\/a>\u2018s chances for minutes.<\/p>\n

You could be forgiven for thinking Gomez is not part of Liverpool\u2019s squad anymore, such is the lack of action he is seeing this season \u2013 238 minutes, to be exact.<\/p>\n

An issue with his knee has not helped matters of late, but Slot told reporters on Thursday that \u201cstarting a game is definitely a possibility.\u201d<\/p>\n

He said: \u201c[Gomez is] close [to minutes], he could have been involved yesterday [vs. PSV] in terms of minutes. But when we are 2-1 down or 3-1 down, I tend to make offensive substitutes.<\/p>\n

\u201cHim starting a game is definitely a possibility, but Konate didn\u2019t train two days before the [PSV] game, he was a bit of a liability two days before.<\/p>\n

\"LIVERPOOL,<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd then if you don\u2019t have that many defenders to start with, two players that might not be able to play the whole 90 is kind of a risk as well. <\/p>\n

\u201cSo I decided to keep him [in reserve] if Ibou was injured and not to have to make two substitutions, because then I probably would have ended up with one or two [fit] defenders.\u201d<\/p>\n

Konate has shown little to retain his place but it may be that Gomez is better off at right-back so we do not have to see a midfielder in that position, but is that hopeful thinking? <\/p>\n

It is the question many are asking and we had a debate on the very topic, and the views were understandably mixed: <\/p>\n

MATT: Yes. You can\u2019t expect to be Liverpool manager if you lose nine games in 12 games (and 14 out of 30 \u2013 which shows this isn\u2019t a short-term thing).<\/p>\n

We\u2019ve seen zero evidence that he knows how to turn it around, the same issues have been apparent without being dealt with. He\u2019s admitted his team can\u2019t defend against long balls and set pieces, yet PSV played out from the back and it was like a training match against a youth team for them.<\/p>\n

JOANNA: As much as you wish it wasn\u2019t coming to this, the answer is yes.<\/p>\n

The players did not look like they were playing for him anymore, they appear just as confused as we all are (and Slot too) about what needs to be done and what the plan might be.<\/p>\n

SAM: No, but perhaps I am in denial. I have always liked how Liverpool have been a club that haven\u2019t rushed to sack managers, though I can understand why some supporters have reached that point.<\/p>\n
