Peter Kay has teased the return of his classic sitcom Phoenix Nights, as he revealed why he turned down Netflix’s offer. The comedian appeared on Capital Breakfast radio show today after he announced the remaining legs of his 2026 stand up tour, Better Late Than Never.<\/p>\n
The show<\/a> will come to Liverpool for the last time at the M&S Bank Arena on June 19 and Peter has said all the profits form the show will be donated to 12 cancer charities. These include Children With Cancer UK, Teenage Cancer Trust, Kidney Cancer UK, Blood Cancer UK, Bowel Cancer UK, Prostate Cancer UK, DKMS UK, Ovarian Cancer Action, Pancreatic Cancer UK, Anthony Nolan, The Brain Tumour Charity and Breast Cancer UK.<\/a><\/p>\n In his interview with Capital, Peter addressed the future of one of his most loved creations, Phoenix Nights. He told hosts Jordan North, Chris Stark and Sian Welby that he is thinking about adapting it into a film<\/a>.<\/p>\n He said: “I\u2019m waiting for the de-aging process to come into fruition. Because the storyline involves a lot of flashbacks to the past, and I don\u2019t want to be using really bad makeup to make people look young.”<\/p>\n He then quipped: “Seriously, when the tour is finished, I\u2019ve been thinking about it. I\u2019ve been looking at the capabilities of de-aging technology.”<\/p>\n Peter also revealed Netflix wanted to air his classic Channel 4 sitcom, but under one condition that he refused to accept. He said: “They got in touch with me last year because they wanted to put Phoenix Nights on Netflix.<\/p>\n “They rang me up and said, \u2018Can we license some of your shows to put on Netflix?\u2019 Anyway, they sent me a load of paperwork.<\/p>\n “Basically, it\u2019s not very politically correct now. This was made in a time, do you know what I mean?”<\/p>\n He added: “I just said, \u2018I\u2019m not keen on that, I don\u2019t really want a warning before it.\u2019 So, I just said, \u2018No, I\u2019ll leave it.\u2019<\/p>\n “Anyway, they sent me an air fryer. I think that was trying to sweeten me.”<\/p>\n Sian responded with: “What, one air fryer? That will do it.”<\/p>\n Peter added: “Anyway, the Netflix air fryer arrived. It was a Phillips air fryer, it wasn’t even a Ninja one.
