The Louvre<\/a> museum in Paris<\/a> has approved a significant ticket price increase for non-European Union visitors, raising the cost from \u20ac22 to \u20ac32 (\u00a319 to \u00a328), effective from 14 January. <\/p>\n The \u20ac10 hike aims to finance a comprehensive overhaul of the historic building, after its degradation was starkly exposed by the 19 October crown jewels heist.<\/p>\n The measure forms part of a decade-long renovation and expansion plan, announced earlier this year by French President Emmanuel Macron<\/a>.<\/p>\n Security breaches, including the \u20ac88 million theft, underscored the urgency. <\/p>\n The Louvre’s governing board approved the increase on Thursday. <\/p>\n
