Celtic\u2019s win against Feyenoord was a return to something which has become too unfamiliar nowadays:<\/p>\n

An assured away performance in Europe. Many feared the worst when Ayase Ueda opened the scoring after ten minutes, but Martin O\u2019Neill\u2019s<\/a> side responded with a strong performance.<\/p>\n

After Yang Hyun-Jun<\/a> equalised with his first goal of the season, outstanding pressing by Daizen Maeda<\/a> gave Reo Hatate<\/a> an open net to put the Celts in front.<\/p>\n

Feyenoord put the pressure on after the break, but the result was sealed by Benjamin Nygren<\/a> in the later stages, resurrecting Celtic\u2019s<\/a> Europa League<\/a> season.<\/p>\n

It was a fantastic performance which has now even been recognised by UEFA.<\/p>\n

The victory lifted the Celts to 21st place in the League Phase, after languishing in the \u2018elimination zone\u2019.<\/p>\n

It was also the club\u2019s first win in the Netherlands since O\u2019Neill himself did it in 2001, with that famous win at Ajax.<\/p>\n

It caught UEFA\u2019s attention as well, being named Performance of the Week in the Europa League.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s ahead of Nottingham Forest\u2019s 3-0 defeat of Malmo, Lyon\u2019s 6-0 win against Maccabi Tel-Aviv and Porto\u2019s 3-0 win over Nice.<\/p>\n

Yang\u2019s performance received praise in particular, after O\u2019Neill handed him a rare start ahead of Sebastian Tounekti.<\/a><\/p>\n

We also saw the midfield of Callum McGregor,<\/a> Arne Engels<\/a> and Hatate return to the form which looked so stellar in the Champions League last season.<\/p>\n

Maeda also looked back to his best \u2013 it was a classic Daizen performance filled with energy and grit.<\/p>\n

Positives all-round then, and something to build on in Europe.<\/p>\n

Celtic\u2019s remaining Europa League fixtures<\/p>\n

The match was a fitting one for O\u2019Neill, if it is to be his last European fixture, with Wilfried Nancy set to take over on Monday.<\/a><\/p>\n

Nancy\u2019s first European fixture will be a glamour tie at home to Roma, who are flying high in Serie A under Gian Piero Gasperini.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s then a trip to Bologna in January, in another challenging fixture. The Celts will be hoping to get one over on Lewis Ferguson,<\/a> for obvious reasons.<\/p>\n

It will conclude at home to Utrecht, in a match being billed as the long-awaited homecoming for Vasilis Barkas\u2026<\/a><\/p>\n
