Ed Sheeran has shared a candid insight into his marriage to Cherry Seaborn with the release of his new album where he admits that the couple have battled to save their relationship\"EdEd admits his relationship troubles on his new album<\/p>\n

Ed Sheeran<\/a> has given fans a rare insight into his marriage to Cherry Seaborn. The eighth studio release, Play, sees the singer reveal how he and wife Cherry, 33, have battled to keep their marriage alive.<\/p>\n

The new release features 13 extra tracks which describe how his three-year Mathematics World Tour had a drastic effect on his family life. Ed, 34, played 188 shows over five continents for the string of live dates<\/a>, while Cherry remained at home in Suffolk to care for their two daughters, Lyra and Jupiter.<\/p>\n

The strain of spending so much time apart saw Ed and Cherry having a string of blazing rows.<\/a> Ed also worries about the impact on his relationship with his children, and that he has not been a good enough dad to them.<\/p>\n

He sings on the track Problems: \u201cFlowers in our garden are dying. When did the water run dry? Who can tell? But you want the truth, we\u2019re not fine. We got problems, and we don\u2019t know how to solve them.\u201d On While War Game lyrics the lyrics say: \u201cEvery day we feel deflated. Tryna roll with all the changes. Reality of what we\u2019ve created.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s no one above or below you, you are all I want. But I feel that it\u2019s not enough, to just offer you my love. Inches from movin\u2019 out and movin\u2019 on . . . either in love or we\u2019re insane.\u201d<\/p>\n

Regrets sees the global superstar appear to blame on himself as he admits his remorse over spending so much time away from his family. He sings: \u201cWhy does it feel like our lives on a Slip \u2018N Slide? Kids, they add stress, work ain\u2019t working the best. But that ain\u2019t the explanation why this love is a mess.\u201d<\/p>\n

He also alludes to the pair arguing in public as he sings: \u201cI push it down to avoid a situation, but all it does is come out in public places. Can\u2019t be as open when they recognise our faces. If they think it\u2019s heated, I guess that\u2019s an understatement.\u201d The singer also sings about the demands of his career and fatherhood: \u201cYou\u2019re too young to understand that Daddy\u2019s coming home. Every time I leave the house, you think I\u2019m forever gone<\/p>\n

\u201cGuess it\u2019s from the hundred calls, goodnights on the telephone. See this tour, I\u2019ve gotta get it done, but why though? Missed out on so much, I really need to make it up.\u201d While Ed originally planned on working less when he became a dad, he found the lack of structure challenging and has previously spoken candidly about his mental health struggles and how alcohol served as a release for him in some of his lowest moments.<\/p>\n

Also on Regrets he sings: \u201cAlways said I\u2019d pause work as soon as you came. Without structure, I just slipped into depression again. Aimed to be the best dad here, but missed the mark. Breaking both you and your sister\u2019s heart, and your mother\u2019s too.\u201d However, not all of the songs point to heartbreak for Ed, with Freedom and Crashing revealing that after crisis talks, the couple resolved their relationship problems and got back their spark.<\/p>\n

Technicolour sees Ed admit his undying love for Cherry, and on Rapture, he reiterates his wedding vows singing: \u201cI don\u2019t just want you for the rapture. I want the twists and turns of a modern love. Give me a kiss, I wanna be fractured. I\u2019d give anything for us. Keeping scars, screaming wars.<\/p>\n

\u201cOh I know this is not the way to be a partner. Showing flaws and honest thoughts. So that\u2019s how you and I will never fall apart.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ed and Cherry first met when they were at school aged 11. The pair became a couple in 2015, before marrying in December 2018. They then welcomed their daughters were in 2020 and 2022.<\/p>\n
