Liam Fender<\/a>\u00a0has brought an end to his current chapter with the new single \u2018Here We Are\u2019 \u2013\u00a0listen\u00a0below.<\/p>\n

The North Shields singer-songwriter and older brother of\u00a0recent\u00a0Mercury Prize winner<\/a>\u00a0Sam Fender<\/a>\u00a0released the song on Friday (November 28)\u00a0and has confirmed that it marks his final release before he takes a break from the music industry.<\/p>\n

The reflective track\u00a0stirs into life with a lilting, repeating keyboard phrase,\u00a0heart-pulling violin\u00a0strings\u00a0and Fender\u2019s deep\u00a0vocals, before\u00a0chunky guitar chords burst the track into\u00a0life.<\/p>\n

It also comes with a video shot in and around North Shields, which you can watch here:<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\u2018Here We Are\u2019 follows on from his 2023 EP \u2018Love Will\u2019 and 2024\u2019s \u2018Man Down\u2019 EP. Fender has said about the song: \u201cThis one\u2019s for everyone who\u2019s been part of the journey so far. It\u2019s about finding light in the moments before you disappear into the sun. North Shields will always be home \u2013 its people and its spirit run through everything I do.\u201d<\/p>\n

The song takes its title from\u00a0800 Years \u2013 Here We Are,\u00a0a documentary that Fender hosted earlier this year, and now he has said: \u201cAfter the documentary, I felt like this song was the right way to say thank you.\u00a0It\u2019s\u00a0not a goodbye, more of a see you later.\u201d<\/p>\n

Fender is set to play two hometown shows\u00a0at Red Studios in North Shields next weekend \u2013 December 6 and 7 \u2013 and he will be offering limited edition CDs that include \u2018Love Will\u2019, \u2018Man Down\u2019 and \u2018Here We Are\u2019.<\/p>\n

The singer spoke to\u00a0NME\u00a0in 2023 about recording his music in the\u00a0North East<\/a>. \u201cIt\u2019s\u00a0a really cool, creative hive of a place,\u201d he said. \u201cIt\u2019s\u00a0great to see the\u00a0North East\u00a0has really got a buzz going on now, in a way that it\u00a0didn\u2019t\u00a0when I was starting out.\u00a0It\u2019s\u00a0really exciting to see!\u00a0It\u2019s\u00a0an exciting time to watch it all unfold.\u201d<\/p>\n
