We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.<\/p>\n<p>Your support makes all the difference.Read more<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/news\/uk\/home-news\/jessie-j-kate-middleton-royal-variety-performance-b2868714.html\" title=\"Princess of Wales shares emotional hug with Jessie J over cancer experiences\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Jessie J <\/a>has addressed her 2014 <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/news\/people\/jessie-j-labels-her-bisexuality-a-phase-i-want-to-stop-talking-about-it-completely-now-and-find-myself-a-husband-9245924.html\">comments about her sexuality<\/a>, which attracted criticism at the time from the LGBT+ community.<\/p>\n<p>The singer-songwriter, real name <a href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/life-style\/jessie-j-health-update-breast-cancer-b2804779.html\" title=\"Jessie J shares health and music updates amid breast cancer journey\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Jessica Cornish<\/a>, had been in a relationship a woman, though stated after the break-up that it was \u201ca phase\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/music\/2025\/nov\/29\/jessie-j-interview-cancer-miscarriage-album-dont-tease-me-with-a-good-time\">The Guardian<\/a> in a candid new interview, Cornish said that she had misworded her feelings at the time, and said that she was \u201csure\u201d her words had \u201churt\u201d her ex-partner.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt wasn\u2019t me saying I\u2019m not bisexual,\u201d said the artist, 37. \u201cI think I\u2019m always going to be attracted to women. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m so honest and open about it, but I don\u2019t want a label on it, like \u2018Jessie J the bisexual singer\u2019,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n<p>Asked if she remained in contact with her ex, she replied, \u201cno, not any more\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m sure it hurt her because our relationship was amazing and we were really serious,\u201d she continued. \u201cWe lived together for a long time: around three years.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Elsewhere in the interview, Cornish opened up about her treatment for cancer earlier this year, experiencing a miscarriage, and her devastation after the suicide of a close friend.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/GettyImages-2247682325.jpeg\"  loading=\"lazy\" alt=\"Jessie J photographed on 20 November 2025\" class=\"sc-1mc30lb-0 ggpMaE\"\/>Jessie J photographed on 20 November 2025 (Getty Images)<\/p>\n<p>In her new song \u201cI\u2019ll Never Know Why\u201d, Cornish sings about the loss of someone she describes as \u201clost and hopeless\u201d, confirming in the interview that this was written about her bodyguard and close friend Dave Last, who she says died by suicide in 2018.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI miss him so much, man,\u201d she said. \u201cHe was my guy for seven years. He was like my big brother. It makes me so sad that there was a loneliness there that meant it got to that before he would call me. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI hope it\u2019s a song that can help people who are left behind.
